OK, I’ll jump in off the sidelines on this one. A few comments:

Back in the early days of triathlon many men wore a Speedo swim suit for an entire triathlon swim/bike/run even for an Ironman. No shirts and even no helmet as this guy is doing.

As for women, I have seen women racing with bikini style briefs that reveal almost as much derriere as this guy. A certain Brazilian Ironwoman comes to mind.

Americans( and Canadians for that matter) often get a little worked up about nudity and near nudity. It’s OK on an MTV video seen by millions, but when confronted by the same, at the park or at the beach they are shocked.
And there was a student at Berkely who went to classes totally naked everyday for a couple years at least! Just pushing the limits in a different way.
