I snagged some free samples of this stuff and decided to try it out. Not long after talking it I have slight flushing and weird tingling sensations. Did a quick search and have found that is a normal side effect and is to be expected.
I don’t use this brand but yes, the tingling sensation does occur the first few times you use it or if you haven’t used it for awhile. No adverse side effects
Supposed to go away, but happens to me every time I take it (even when taken regularly). 1st Endurance has an explanation in the Q&A section for one of their products.
yes it does
it also didn’t make my power go up at all
From what I know and have experienced, it will not give you more power, just enable you to go for longer. I have yet to use it for Triathlon, but used to great effect a few years back for weight training.

Yeah its purpose is for reduced fatigue. I can’ tell if its really working or if my increased workouts are the result of not getting tired as fast. I am only a few weeks in so far and the tingling has reduced some.
If you have ever had an anxiety attack it’s the exact same feeling for the first few minutes. The tingling, the flushing, feels like your heart is racing.

that would be the same thing as more power.
i should see power at some duration or another go up.
at least up to 1 hour, no change.
nor any appreciable difference in how hard 2.5 hour road races are =)
It is a very distinct tingling feeling in my skin. Didn’t bother me at all and I kind of liked it. I don’t feel any other physical effects that you describe such as my heart racing, blood rushing, or flushing. I have had anxiety attacks in the past and it was much more of an overwhelming feeling (physical and mental).
I used to take BA in the morning (don’t take it anymore) and would typically drink coffee afterwards, which made the tingling more pronounced.
I can’t make a definitive connection to BA, but I did sense that when I was taking it my recovery was improved to some degree, leading to higher quality workouts. Placebo? Maybe.
My tingling is very similar. It tends to effect different muscle groups when i take it too. I feel it most in my face, arms, hands, shoulders and neck. Crazy feeling. HR stays the same and I don’t feel stressed or anything. Just tingly.
I’ve used beta-alanine for a while now. Definitely experience the flushing/tingling sensation during the first few doses, but it went away after about a week of consistent use. I get it free from a friend who has a supplement label, he wanted to get some opinions from someone who would use it outside of the gym instead of feedback from people just lifting. Ive found it has helped me after prolonged use (1mo before I felt I was experiencing any benefit from it). Could totally be placebo, but I get it free so I wasnt ‘looking’ for any benefit really as my friend just wanted feedback and Ive always felt supplements were 90% bs. I didnt feel any benefit from short term use.
i usually feel the tingle also. it feel it less when i eat something with it. from what i understand, for some, it takes about 30 days to see any benefit.
I’ve tried it and felt (read: enjoyed) the tingle. The stuff is a good aid to your training. I save it for A-race training blocks because of the price.
I have used BA and find it seems to keep me going a bit longer. The day before the NJ Half Marathon I did a 100 mile bike ride, and the next day I expected to take about 3 hours to do the half because my legs were totally toast. But, I struggled in in 2:35, which is very good for me in that condition. (My recent PB for the half is 1:57 fully rested). I am a vegetarian, so I don’t really know if that makes a big difference. I’d say I got about a 5-10% boost in endurance from the product. I’d give it a B+ as supplements go, but I really only take creatine as my other supplement, so I’m not an expert. I’d say it’s worth a try for a few months. You may respond, or you may be Jack Mott.
