Looking for few options here. I am redoing my Zwift set-up. Currently I have a flux that runs to my ipad mini which I can barely see and does not talk to my Garmin HR monitor.
I was looking at buying a cheap PC and using my ANT stick for HR. Or what about Apple TV? Is that a cheaper(better) alternative and what else will I need?
Get a cheap gaming PC or Steam machine or similar and use ANT+ stick. It will allow Zwift to run in 1080. It looks much better. I used to run Zwift on MS Surface with integrated Intel graphics. It worked but framerates were low and resolution was low. Now using my old abandoned gaming PC with Nvidia GeForce 780 and 4th gen i7 CPU, plugged into our old TV via HDMI. Old hardware, but Zwift works and looks fantastic on it. Zwift isn’t particularly demanding on hardware.
Not sure what your budget is. You can get an entry level gaming machine for $500 or less.
I was looking at this PC but I am worried it may be too slow.
.2 GHz Intel Core i5-3470 processor 8 GB DDR3 system memory 1 TB Hard Disk Drive storage Windows 10 Profession operating system pre-installed Integrated Intel graphics Onboard DVD-RW optical drive Ports: 6 x USB 2.0, 4 x USB 3.0, VGA, DisplayPort, Microphone-in, Headphone-out, RJ-45 Includes USB Keyboard & Mouse
That’s plenty fast other than lacking a graphics card. Integrated Intel graphics are adequate but nothing special. Zwift would default to lower resolution and the framerates would be jerky. It *would *work.
If that machine has a free PCIe x16 slot you could buy a low end NVidia or AMD gaming card and install it yourself.
An inexpensive way to go is the Direct TV Now deal. Prepay $140 for 4 months of device and you get the new Apple TV 4k 32GB. Cheaper than you can the stand alone box, plus you get 4 months of cord-free tv
Wall mounted iMac i5 2017 27" with a red light for extra effect, Tacx Neo. The pain cave had a demonic feel to it the other night (Yes I’m in the small ring pushing crappy watts
