I feel kind of goofy for posting this but is there a wetsuit that might be better for the “hourglass” figure?
Like 34-26-38.
I know DeSoto might be a good option, but was worried about the top, which looks like it goes down a bit over the hip, ‘riding up’.
The Womens TYR Hurricane series was specifically designed for a woman’s body, not just a smaller version of the mens.
The De Soto 2-piece worked best for me. The top is tight on my waist.
The other ones just poof out horribly at the waist.
I just tried out the women’s XTERRA Vortex 3 and was very impressed by it’s womanly cut. It looks hourglassy just lying there on the ground; bonus, it stretches! I have very similar proportions to you. It also is really flexible and easy to get on and off, but I’m sure all high-end wetsuits these days have those properties.
Good luck!
I am curvy and the deSoto 2 pce did not work at all for me, even after trying all different sizes. I am too short in the torso, so it would ride up, curl, bubble at the bottom of the top piece. Major PITA. Switched to a nineteen Frequency (1pce fullsuit), FITS AWESOME!!!
Good luck!!!

DeSoto 2 piece.
Um er, I am small and I say NONE… lol’s I end up hour glass, in fact that suits me because I think I have a nanna bum sneaking up on me? Good luck

Same problem here. I don’t really consider myself curvy, but I do have an ex-ski racer’s glutes and a short torso. The DeSoto 2 piece rides up on me, then bunches up at the upper chest. I’m still looking for an alternative and will definitely try some of the wetsuits mentioned here.
I have both a farmer John and full ProMotion suit out of hood River OR. Not only are they nice cost wise, they fit my bum, small waist and boobs quite nicely. I definitely fall into the hourglass category.

Hourglass or pear? I’m have similar measurements but I’m more of a pear. I’m happy with the deSoto two-piece. The top rolls slightly when it’s dry but once I’m in the water it sits just above my hips. I’m 5’6" with fairly average leg/torso length for my height. I’m a 3 top and 4 bottom.
Previous to that, I had a ProMotion. I purchased it based on their website and phone support. It’s a W-10-S and holds significant amounts of water in the chest/armpits.
Thanks for all the input. I’m a short person too at about 5’4.5".
I consider myself more ‘hourglass’ because I’ve got a decent set of shoulders, which are about as wide as my hips. It’s also why I will never stop swimming - so I don’t look like a pear!
As noted above I guess it depends on how you define hourglass, but I’d say I’m pretty hourglass-like (but taller - 5’10 and 37-29-39ish) and I’ve never found a women’s wetsuit that fits me. They’ve all been too big in the waist/tummy (it almost seemed as though I needed a pouch to fill them out) and too small in the chest/shoulders. Every wetsuit I’ve ever owned has been a men’s small. Quintana Roo and Orca have both fit me well.
It’s a little confusing since women’s clothing fits me otherwise, and I certainly wouldn’t say I have a man-ish figure, but there it is. So consider a men’s suit, too. You never know.
I have an Orca women’s 3.8 and it seems to work well. My figure is rather curvy on the bottom and it fit better than the zoot & blue seventy I tried.
Although I am bigger than you (a size 14) I’m also curvy - small waist compared to wide hips and chest. I ended up going with a Synergy full suit. Synergy isn’t a well known brand, but it was recommended to me by a wetsuit specialist at trisports.com.
I’m very happy with the fit. It’s easy to get on and off, and it is preshaped like a woman’s body – with enough room in the hips and butt!
I’m 5’10, and have a couple of the Blue Seventy models in sleeveless and full. My favorites are the Reaction sleeveless in the WXLA I’m about 39-29-36 (damn you, built in floatation devices) and it fits pretty well. I just wish it were longer in the torso, but I wish that with all of my wetsuits.
