Best way to sell a bike when not dealing in person?

I’ve sold lots of stuff locally through Craigslist with cash and purchased a ton on here via PayPal. I have someone interested in a bike I am selling but they live in another province. Ideally I’d prefer to deal in person to avoid shipping hassels and most importantly concern over getting taken in a scam. On the other hand I’m tempted as I would like to free up the capital tied up in this bike and I’ve had it for sale for a while. Any advice on how to navigate this type of transaction. Is there protection via PayPal? I’ve read stories of yes and no. Any idea of ball park to ship a bike from Ontario to BC. Buyer will pay for professional packaging and shipping. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. Cheers.

There is buyer protection on PayPal (but not seller protection). The best route is to go PayPal since the buyer knows that you are not a scammer. After you have their $$$ in your PayPal account, you can then ship the bike and know that you have been paid; no risk.

Thanks. How do you protect yourself from chargebacks through PayPal?

I would hold out and sell it locally. If you are selling long distance, you can take a personal check and wait for it to clear. The buyer will have to be patient.
