Best watch for aquathlon

I have been swimming competitively for years, but I have never used some kind of watch for training. Now, I have started to do running because I wanted to move to do Aquathlon. I would like your advice because I am not sure which is the best choice for me.
As I am not going to use the cycling features (maybe once or twice per month), ¿which watch fits me better? I am considering the new Ambit3 S, the consolidated 910xt, get the 620 and forget about swimming metrics as I am not used to or just wait for the new garmin watch and use meanwhile an app in my mobile.
Thanks in advance,
Javier

There is always the Polar v800 or polar RCX5 with GPS. No swim metrics on the RCX5 but swimmers do not need that anywho ;0) I am a bit partial to Polar though. RCX5 is a nice thin smallish watch u fan keep on after racing and go out on the town too.

Agree that swim metrics aren’t particularly important (not like you can look at your wrist while going through your stroke anyway), but the Ambit series is pretty rock solid for custom multisporting. Not sure you can do a swim-run auto multisport with Garmin.

You can do swim/run auto multisport with Garmin. Set it up for my wife at her Aquathlon a couple weeks ago on her 910. Pretty sure the 310 can do it too. Just go into auto multisport and it tells you how to set it up. You can choose whether or not to have a transition split.

I use a Garmin swim in the pool. In open water aquathlons, I leave my 310 XT on shore and only worry about mapping/timing the run. Forget the swim. GPS just doesn’t work in water very well.

I guess I could do the thing where I shove the 310 into my swim cap, but I just don’t care enough to bother. I assume the course is close to accurate and I am a FOP swimmer. The run is where pacing and looking at a watch actually matters in the moment of the race.
