Best Tri suit on a budget

I’m looking for a short sleeve Tri suit. This will be my first try at this piece of equipment.
I don’t know where to start looking. Asbsolutely nothing in local bike stores around here so will probably go with online purchase.

Good morning,

We have a very nice sleeved trisuit for $189. It will last you several seasons. Dont hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

I don’t want to sound like a fan boy but your stuff is always good no matter what pricing level it’s at.

Swimoutlet.com has a wide variety of triathlon suits, many on sale, and they have a good return policy. Although they’re pretty slow on processing refunds.

I would avoid the temptation to buy the cheapest suit. The less expensive suits just don’t have the stretch or give compared to the more expensive ones. I particularly feel it on the swim with the cheaper suits I’ve tried. Try a suit that is on sale but had a high original MSRP.

Zoot Tri suits are down to $136 on Amazon right now: https://amzn.to/3j8WUaA

Castelli, Roka, and Wattie also make nice options. A bit more expensive, but as others have said, I definitely wouldn’t cheap out here on some crappy $50 suit. Your race experience will be much better if you’re actually comfortable

Ok thanks for the link.
I stopped by Louis Garneau outlet store in february (crazy deals to be made on location !!), but summer and Triathlon stuff was stored and they didn’t want to bring them out.
I’ll check with my LBS if they can have something interesting in my size with the brands they carry: LG, HUUB, Zone3, 2XU.
(Man!! Canadian dollar is so low, I’m depressed by the huge difference between US and CAN $$ !!)

thank you Jared for the kind words; they are very much appreciated by everyone here.

wishing you and all the st community to stay safe and healthy!

eBay.

I was selling some brand new Pearl Izumi sleeved trisuits (MSRP $190) and was getting ~$75 for them. That’s pretty reflective of the discounting that you can see.

Just stay away from some of the low-end brands like SparX; personally I’ve found the quality to be lacking.

Also,

I wear size large bibs and small jersey. (5’10’’ 165 lbs).
What size trisuit will I look for ? Medium ?

What’s your budget?

I’d guess medium, but it going to vary by brand. If you are two very different sizes then the right solution might be the Castelli Free Speed top & bottom (2-piece) so you can properly size.

Testing has shown sleeves to be faster than skin, but only if there are very minimal wrinkles (then they are significantly slower). A poor fitting suit (too loose up top) is going to slow you.

Jan’s suit has almost no wrinkling on the sleeves/shoulders.

Anne’s suit is a bit loose (wrinkles on the sleeves and shoulders):

I agree with Jaret’s assessment. I have tried both of Kiawmi’s sleeved suits, and they are both awesome (the Spyder is Awesomer…).

I was offered to buy this overstock suit from the local tri club for cheap:

( I know it’s sleeveless…)
I’ll try it for starters.
Main observation: Man !! There is NO chamois :open_mouth: !! They call it “chamoisine”, it’s just a layer of soft fabric, no padding !
I’ll definitely NOt do a long Tri on this piece lol !
