Hello mdiet22 and All,

thx

As an interesting aside, I saw on one metrics page that sites pay nearly $11 PER CLICK (not per buyer!) to people directed by advertising to their treadmill marketing page. Crazy!

Craigslist. Find a good divorce sale.

What qualifies as a good price? I’d be happy if I could get a Woodway for 6k, but that ain’t going to happen. I run on them at my gym and they’re awesome. I settled on a True PS100 for a bit under 3k with delivery and tax and love it. It should last me and my wife many years.

You could probably get a sub 1k treadmill and be happy too.

I have a Nordic Track C1750. Had it for 2 years now and use it 5x week in the winter and 2/3x a week in the summer. It has held up well. I think it is reasonable. Right now priced at $1500, but usually there is a sale for $200 off or a coupon code.
Basically if you are really going to use it, try to get the most CHP for your buck. This one is 3.8. The more horsepower, the stronger the motor, the longer it will last with regular use.
Pay the extra few bucks to have them set it up if you are putting in the basement or somewhere difficult. Unless you have some really nice (and strong) friends.

The nordictrack you mentioned is the same one Lionel Sanders uses. If it can keep up with him, it can probably keep up to the rest of us. I purchased the same line but the c1600 model instead. It has a 3.5 motor rather than a 3.8. So far, it’s been fantastic and I use it daily and so does my wife. We got it for $1499 at Canadian Tire which was a sale price that they frequently have. For you Americans it would be an even better deal with the current power of the American dollar.

I don’t think you can go wrong with most of the models between $1400-$2200 that have been around for more than 3-4 years.

One of the workhorses that’s very common, available nearly everywhere (including Amazon), and works extremely well is the Sole F80. I have it - it’s solid and great. No crazy special features or bells & whistles, but it’s got a great reputation with solid customer support and service across the country and is widely available.

Sole F80 or Proform are good treadmills that will last you many years. Both got good sale right now with free shipping and no tax.

I would watch sales!

I got a Proform 995i for 675 on amazon. It is a “cheap” treadmill and I don’t expect it to last 10 years, but I only run on really crappy days - so it should last a while! Liking it a lot so far. It was partially cheap because they try to sell you some $100 a year training plan with talking heads, which I am not buying… so like 80% of the buttons on the treadmill don’t work.

But - it runs smooth, and has speed + incline buttons (rather than just arrows), so totally happy with it. If it lasts me 50 runs a year for 5 years I will be happy, and maybe then I can blow money on some 6 billion dollar treadmill.

I got a nice Sports Art treadmill on CL that retailed for $3500. I paid $600. LOVE IT…

The sole 85 is awesome. Real solid!

Picked up an old Proform with no bells/whistles from craigslist for $150. All I wanted was speed controls, incline controls, and it decent working shape.
Runs great. And at that price, if it lasts a year I’ll be pretty content.
