. . . for cold weather swimming are Crocs Mammoths. A woman at my masters team has these. I picked some up this week and actually used them for the first time this morning. It wasn’t that cold this morning, but these are great. I usually wear flip flops when I’m getting out of the pool because they get my feet off the cold ground, but they are still exposed to the cold air. With these Crocs Mammoths, the majority of my feet are covered in warm goodness. Also, they are easier to put on and off than normal shoes. They are great for swimming during the winter. However, they are still trendy Crocs and my roommate mercilessly made fun of me the other night, but I don’t care because they are so warm. Also, I don’t find them as comfortable as I was expecting. I’ve heard great things about them, but they aren’t that great. I guess they didn’t live up to the hype, but they do keep my feet warm!
You swim in those and a parka?
Yeah, you know how sprinters run with a parachute sometimes? Well, this is a similar thing for swimmers. It helps to increase the drag of the water. Then, when I swim without wearing the parka and Crocs in the water, it feels so much better. Its kind of like riding around with Tufos on my bike, and then swapping out for a pair of real tires when I race.
My wife bought a pair of those Croc’s and wears them everywhere. Even out in the cold/snow. She loves them.
The best thing about old used up swim parkas - well, they don’t have to be old used up. I didn’t wear mine for 20 years after I ‘retired’. Then I got dogs, and its the BEST coat for dog walking every morning when its cold outside! Lucky for me it still fits!

I am just trying to visualize you in the parka and those crocs. And I now have to clean coffee off my laptop…

I agree that I think I look rediculous (sic) in that outfit, but I’m warm so I don’t really care that much. Warmth over sexiness is what I choose pretty much any day.
