I’m switching from 650c to 700c with the new frame and need to get some tires. Anyone have recommendations on the best sources for Pro3 clinchers or Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX?
+2 for probikekit, you can’t beat free shipping.
www.probikekit.com has Michelin Pro 3 Race for $32.85, with no tax and no shipping…sounds really good, however, I noticed this find print:
“Any foreign prices (i.e., not UK Pounds Sterling) shown here are an approximation based on the latest financial exchange rates. Your order amount will be converted & charged in UK Pounds Sterling when you purchase. There may be some slight discrepancy between your credit-card company’s exchange rate and ours which can cause your statement total to be slightly different from our calculated total. Please see our CURRENCY page for further details.
Probikekit does not pay customs duty for your order. This means that you may be charged by your country’s customs office when your order arrives. Please see our POSTAGE & SHIPPING page for further details.”
If I order from the US, with their be a customs duty? Does any one know how much credit cards charge for paying in foreign currency? is it an average %?
Even if you are (and I don’t get charged every time), you will still come out way ahead with their prices. Probikekit rocks
I’ve never paid any customs duty for ProBikeKit to the US. I don’t think I’ve paid any exchange fees either. It’s just that their prices are in euros, so there may be slight changes in the exchange rate between when you buy and when they bill.
I’ve ordered many items from PBK. Never had any problems with them, and the items arrive within a week.
Customs don’t kick in until you spend over $200 on most items. There’s a full schedule depending on what sort of item you purchse, but if you stay under 6 tires, you’ll be fine. I know frames/complete bikes are exempt from duties up to $600, but not sure about other cycling equipment.
I am going to place an order, I do not think you can beat that price anywhere, even if it is a little more with the exchange rate
.
Any Canadian folk on here order from them?
x5 for probikekit. Prices are by far the best and shipping is almost always free. As for exchange rates, I generally get nicked for an extra $1 or $1.50 on $150 to $200 purchases. The prices still crush everyone else. To top it off, their delivery is amazingly fast. Usually three to four days from England to the West coast.

X6 here. I have ordered from them a lot and got pro race 2’s for $21 a piece at one point. I highly recommend them and haven’t ever had to pay any sort of duty.

get an additional 5% off. i think there are others, but can’t remember what countries.
yeah, i know, it’s that ‘other’ site, i only have two cycling hangouts…
Any Canadian folk on here order from them?
Yes, several times. Never had to pay duty. Probably GST and maybe PST, but never duty. They also ship via Royal Mail so your “brokerage fee” will be ~$5 rather than $280,965.00 via UPS.

I buy almost all my tires from Probikekit. Got a set of Pro3s for $29 each recently with free shipping.
- whatever we’re up to for probikekit. got 2 conti gp4000s for under $60 total. that’s less than half price normal retail. they didn’t get to me that quick however- 10-12 days.
Yup, always ordered from PBK and no probs with deliveries from Fort St John to Victoria.
Ordered 4 tires and tubes late last night (missed the discount code, damn it) for $15 cheaper per tire than any other site I found. Had an email this morning stating they’ve already shipped. Definitely my site of choice for tires from now on.
I just ordered a pair of Conti GP4000S’s from PBK
Bank of America sent me an email, and then called my home- to tell me that my card was experiencing unusual charges.
Does that always happen when ordering from the UK? I mean… I paid for a tank of gas, then 74$ at PBK and they called.
What really bugged me is that I’ve gotten phishing emails from Bank of America before- I’m no idiot, i realize its not really from them- but this one had me confused- at least until they called
so is it just a PBK thing? a general ordering from the UK thing?
does anyone else get that?
