Best Road Handlebars for clip on aerobars?

Hi All -

Did some searches and didn’t find anything specific to best road handlebars for clip ons (maybe I didn’t search that hard)? Anyone have experience or suggestions? I have a soloist carbon and prefer to use clip-ons w/ road handlebars. I have a, relatively, long torso and after being fitted by a professional, we determined that there wasn’t that much adjustment needed for my tri-position, thus I’m really comfortable w/ clip ons and my road bars. Plus I’m doing IMLP next year which is pretty hilly.

Now I just want to upgrade the handlebars (currently using FSA rd250 - http://www.bikewagon.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/32140/vpid/3664583/vpcsid/0/rid/124765). I’ve heard different views on carbon isn’t really worth it and not stiff enough? The Zipp SLC2 looks good - http://www.zipp.com/bars/detail.php?ID=62#

Thanks for any help you can provide!

A lot of carbon road bars will not take clip-ons so check the manufacturers specs. My road bike has Kestrel EMS Pro bars, carbon but reinforced with kevlar so they can take clip-ons. In all honesty, you likely won’t notice a difference between aluminium or carbon bars. A good bar tape will do more to eliminate road buzz than the bar material.

The Profile Cobra drop bars are great.
They have an extended round portion for aerobars and a flat top section.
Very ergonomic.
