Best road bike race wheels (budget of $1500)?

What are the best road bike race wheels available with a budget of $1500? Ideally, I am looking for 700C clincher wheels with aluminum rims.

Thanks for your suggestions.

HED Ardennes: among the lightest wheelsets - lists for around $1100 - and its sonic hub is amazing in how long it can spin on its own. for tires i use are michelin krylion and had one set for about 5K kms with no flats!

The Hed Ardennes are excellent wheels, I love mine.

I would go for the HED Belgium wheels w/ DTSWISS 240 hubs. i have them on my bike. love them.

My bike came with the Roval Fusee SL 25 wheelset. I was thinking of going with something as light or lighter with a deeper rim.

Got a set of Campy Boras to share with my husband this race season.

dude, grab a set of 404’s or 808’s and ride the snot out of them! used/new to you wheel sets are selling everyday at those prices.

Yup - find some zipp 404 clinchers. Should be able to find some for $1500. Aero, light enough, stout (can even cyclocross 'em), decent crash replacement, etc.

Just bought a pair of SRAM S60 (60mm carbon clincher with aluminum rims), 2010 model, “used” for $900 from Ebay seller…wheels had a brand new set of Attack/Force mounted. The wheels had never been mounted on a bike. The deals are out there. Spend the money you save on the wheels for a bike fit or a coach, or something pretty for the Mrs. so she’ll not give you grief for training/racing more…

you want to get the lightest wheels possible so they spin up fast. also don’t bother with wheels just train.

I’m running Kermesse wheels - same hubs, just 24F/28R spokes since I’m not a lightweight. Love them.
