Best public running tracks in Westchester NY?

I’m looking for a good (open to the public) running track in Westchester NY. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you! Jason.

Most of the local high school tracks have open times. Early mornings and weekends are generally open.

Try, I believe, it is Westchester High School, has a decent track. I ran on it once or twice. When I stay at Crown Plaza, downtown White Plains, I head over, about 2mi warm up to get there from the hotel. It was PM after school when I ran it and it was open.

Thank you. I try and complete speed work before work, do you know if the tracks are open early AM? Say 4:45am-5am? Thanks.

Hey, thanks for your reply.

Where in Westchester are you?

I’ve used the Track at Mamoroneck High School. It seems to be open at all hours. Check it out on Satellite view on Google maps. It’s kind of “square” with a baseball diamond in the middle, but still 400m. It’s tucked in behind the school off Boston Post road pretty well on the border between Larchmont and Mamoroneck.

Not a track but one of the best places to run in Westchester is the Rockerfeller State park reserve. It is a working farm so some of the trails actually get plowed when it snows too.

Most of the High Schools have great tracks-White Plains having one of the best(as mentioned before, though the post called it “Westchester HS”). Also, as Dev said, Mamaroneck HS has one, but being square, the turns are pretty tight. Rye HS has a great one too.

As long as it’s before school is in session, don’t think you’ll encounter an issue. Though with the advent of Spring, the track is usually spoken for with sports after school hours. White Plains might be your best bet for pm workouts because the track surrounds the football field which won’t be in use in the Spring…Of course, there’s always Saturday and Sunday…

Almost all the HS are open to the public. Just find the closest one to you. I used to use the Briarcliff HS track, because I lived in Briarcliff Manor. But as others have said, Mamaroneck has a nice track, White Plains, etc. You shouldn’t have to drive more than about 15min to find a track…

Sleepy hollow hs is nice too…right next to the trailhead for the aquaeduct and Rockefeller trails too. Several running clubs have regular runs there you could hitch up with. Or if you are fast lots of pros there too

If you are on the other side and further down new roc has a nice track that’s in a bowl…gets a lot of sun so its usually clear of snow and protected from the wind too.

Never had any issues running either track, pretty much open to public when not in use by the kids AFAIK.
