My best friend has his 1st tri-bike on the way and needs to find the best place to have it assembled and then properly fitted. He is doing some work out there and didn’t take his computer(and I am his coach), so I’m trying to help him out.
My search has come up with: Inside-Out~4 hours away All3Sports~3 hours away Keith’s Triathlon Shop~2 hours away
Anyone have positive/negative fit experiences at any of these places? Are there any places closer? None of these stores are actually in South Carolina so maybe the locals know of a place?
Bought my bike at inside-out sports, was fit there.
Out of curiousity/want of a second opinion, was re-fit a year later at Bicycle Sports in Atlanta, one of John Cobbs minions. I Like the Bicycle Sports fit better. Just feels better. I took adavantage of being in town for a conference so the drive wasn’t an issue.
Guys at all3sports are good guys and helpfull, but I have no experience with their fitting services.
I have purchased both my bikes at Inside Out and have had my fits done by Mike Beaman. Been very happy and would, and do, highly recommend them. They are a certified FIST fitter as well.
Mike Beaman at InsideOut Sports is very good. Sonni Dyer, up in Valdese, NC, is very good…He’s a TriMyCoach Coach that travels around in the Carolinas. Jim O’Brien at Right Gear in Concord, NC (just above Charlotte) is also very good…he’s probably more experienced with road Time Trialers…worked with Hincapie years ago, and a couple of amateur TT champs. Jim is involved with the Lowe’s Motor Speedway TT series, too…he’s set some guys up that average over 30 mph there…that’s smokin’.
Heck, I’ll be glad to help him fine tune once he gets the basic right sized bike and parts…I’m less than an hour away…and I need a good training partner somewhere nearby, too!
Inside Out is pretty good, but I was fit by Mike there and by Jim O’Brien at The Right Gear. I would definitely recommend Jim at the Right Gear in Concord. It is well worth the drive. I am in Charleston now, but still make sure to fit a trip in to The Right Gear every time I am in Charlotte. He is very experienced with roadies and TT’s, but he has a large triathlon customer base and knows triathlon fitting very well.
