So I’ve got two buddies who are doing Ironman Arizona next year and I’m hoping to join them. I say hoping because I just found out about this today and obviously it’s sold out. I see Endurance Sports Travel has a package but I don’t really need a hotel. Are there any alternatives out there?

There are also several coaching organizations with entry and coaching deals.
But Smile Train would bring a lot more satisfaction than paying a coach.
Ironman as several other ways to get in. You can do it thru Ironman Community, but I think you pay double the entry fee. They also have a Race Free program, but you need to sign up to raise money for their foundation - I think it’s like $3000. They also have XC - executive challenge, but again the hotel comes with.

+1 on this. That’s a great organization. You have a year – $5k is possible doable. And racing for a charity is a great experience. However you decide to get in, don’t wait – commit to something now. It only gets harder closer to the race.
Definitely agree running for a charity is awesome! Problem is I’m actually running Comrades this year with a charity and the goal is $15,000 so that’ll take just about every fundraising dollar I can get out of people.
Bandit.
Relax. Just kidding.
Endurance Sports Travel is very good about having spots available.

I got in last year pretty late (July maybe?) by doing a Carmichael training camp. You don’t even have to do the camp to get the slot, just pay for it. I went anyway, though since I paid for it.
get yer pro card!
Do you remember the cost of the camp?
Why didn’t I think of that?!
