Best open water buoy

I am considering upgrading from my hard plastic red buoy to a more polyvalent (and lighter) one made my Vizibl : http://innovation-sports.com/en/zone3-wetsuits-tri-apparel/438-zone3-neon-swimming-dry-bag.html

Any other suggestions/alternatives? It’s really for open water safety, as I am not a very good swimmer. Thanks!

Several spearfishing companies make similar products that are, IMO, much more durable.

Look at the Omer floater dry bag. I use that, but I already had it as I also freedive.

I just bought one of these a couple weeks ago from a local tri shop. It seems totally fine, and it seems to look like a lot of the others under different brand names. There may not be much material differentiation in these products.

x2 on the New Wave. They have a new one that seems to be designed more with triathletes in mind with a less broad shape. The yellow version is the cheapest at $19.95, yellow is actually what you want as the 1% of boater who may be colorblind are going to have a much harder time seeing orange, green, and pink than yellow. In fact, orange, in nature, is about the worst color for a color blind person to see.

I bought that New Wave Buoy on Thomas Gerlach’s recommendation.

It’s great, just as he says. Not too fancy, but works great and doesn’t get in the way.

Love Gerlach’s recs - I’m still using his Crews sunglasses recommendation happily!

I have my girlfriend follow me on a SUP board. She loves SUPing so it works really well for both of us.

x4 Works great with waterproof pocket for keys/phone. Doesn’t get in the way of stroke.

I’m guessing it would have been ~35,000% cheaper to have just bought the newwave yourself.
