Best MTB pedals for stability?

Hi, I am one of those folks that require a lot of foot stabilization on the bike. Unfortunately the mountain bike pedals I’ve used on my cyclocross bike (Crank Bros. Candy) feel way too sloppy. I end up with some pretty bad problems with my stabilizer muscles.
Mud clearance and ease of entry/exit isn’t a big concern, however I do require MTB pedals.
Recommendations for the most stable MTB pedal? Budget is a concern. Thanks!

Hey mate

Assuming you want to be clipped in? If not… Why?!

I use Shimano M520s, cheap (cheaper if you’re buying online - like $25), durable, don’t get a bunch of mud stuck in them, easy to clip in/out (you can vary the tension quite a lot).

The stability would relate to float - which you need for MTB. I reckon I can move my heel an inch either direction when pivoting on my toes. Still plenty stable enough.
