I got a set of ksyrium SLs last march for $700 - i imagine that similar deals are still out there.
they’re light and stiff. aroudn 2K miles on them so far and I haven’t had to true them yet.
they’re not aero.

If you are not looking for aero then American Classic Sprint 350’s for sure.
http://www.bikesoul.com/s2.html - leaves plenty of $ room for some kcnc skewers, veloplugs and some nice tyres.
I love my Fulcrum Racing 1’s on my Lynskey. Much better than the Mavic Ksyrium SL on my P3.
Neuvation has some nice wheels for cheap. I’ve had a set for about 4 years now and they have held up well. Their newer sets are pretty light for the price. Check it out at http://www.neuvationcycling.com/wheels.html
For $800 you can get 2 sets and still have some left over for some gels or gloves.
If you are patient, you can get used Reynolds Attacks or Assaults on ebay for less than that. They are really great wheels that are decently aero and very stiff. The climb well because of the decent rim weight and the descend great because they are very stiff.
Fulcrum Race One
Fulcrum Race Zero
Reynolds Attack
Mavic Cosmic Carbone
Zipp Flashpoint 60
Zipp 303
Mavic Ksyrium SL
Shimano Dura Ace
Do you want clinchers or tubs?
Personally, I’d get the Reynolds. I’m rather fond of Fulcrum as well.
Torelli Bormio wheels. Cost 1/2 of800 bones, spokes you can find anywhere. We have a bunch of those wheels out there under lots of different riders with very few issues. We had only one wheelset where the front bearing races were mis machined and replaced quickly under warranty. They weigh a little over 1500 grams, in Ksyrium territory, and the rims dont crack like nearly all the ksyriums do.

bikeforums.net loves the Souls. I almost got a set for my road bike, but I really only needed a rear wheel.
I saw an American Classic Carbon Tubular wheelset for sale on Ebay earlier today that is about 1050g or something like that and the price is very low at this time. NOT MY WHEELSET and I do not know the person selling them.
You might be able to get a very light and aero wheelset.
thank you everyone.
I second Neuvation…magnificent wheels, light and the price cant be beat
.
this is what she looks like right now, just some wheels laying around the house slapped on so i can ride it for the time being, had a seat from my dads bike on it this morning for a ride in the hills, waiting for a new seat in the mail

nice… I have the wheel set of your front Bontrager wheel… cant tell what the back one is but didnt look the same
I’ll second Neuvation.
Don’t forget the used market on ebay. I have a nice set of 1500 gm Real Design 40mm aero wheels for a few hundred dollars. They were $1100. when new.
For that bike I would really go for a pair of the american classic sprint 350’s that come in at 1300g. Would be a great wheelset for training and hills. Put on some light weight tires and tubes and you are good to go.
