For those that use Kinesiology Tape. Which brand have you found to be best?
Rock tape I have found to be the best IMO… KT tape won’t stay on me longer than 15 min …
I’ve only used KT tape and for me it won’t stick. I’m a heavy/salty sweater and after about 20 minutes it starts to peel off. I have had success taping my calves under my compression socks - that way the socks keep them in place.
Agree. KT tape is worthless.
I can’t understand how they make a claim that it can stick for up to 5 days…
KT tape works.
Rock Tape is better. it has more stretch and more stick.

well the whole industry is making a claim that putting tape on your skin somehow heals internal soft tissue injuries.
why not claim you can stick for 5 days too?

LOL…classic.
I have asked many people how kinesiology tape is supposed to work if it does not offer support or limit movement. I usually get some mumbo-jumbo about separating layers of muscles and improved blood flow…none of which makes sense. My favorite was when I asked my ART guy…he said “if I hit you in the arm, you would rub that spot after. It is kinda like that.” LOL…no it’s not!!
I have tried it for Achilles and ITBS and never seen any difference…but I’ll continue to try it should other issues arise and people think it will help. Lots of people swear by the stuff…I remain skeptical, but willing to give it another go, should the occasion arise.
Spidertech. Definitely. In addition to the precuts, they also have the X & Y strips. And, of course, classic-style rolls. Works amazingly well. The knee spiders I used when I was rehabbing would last 5+ days, including swimming every day in them.
Make sure the body part that you’re applying tape to is clean, e.g. no sunscreen or oil. Also, if you accidentally touch the sticky part of the tape it’s hard to get it to adhere properly.
Oh yeah I have a question too, what’s the best set of Tarot cards?
.
Spider tech is the only tape that has stuck for longer than 20 min. I have gotten 2-3 days from spider tech.

We’ll even though I know they don’t work, I’ll recommend a company who provides me with them for free and perhaps pays me in exchange for selling them to the lemmings. I will then speak to you about how they predicted that I would need to put gas in my car on the way to work last week and the sale is mine!
Gas in a car?! Genius! How could they have predicted that?
Agree. KT tape is worthless.

Back up a second.
The whole idea behind kineseo tape is that it provides some proprioceptive feedback. I think the easiest one to visualize is if someone has myofascial neck and shoulder pain due to poor posture, a single strip between the shoulder blades provides a little subconscious reminder to keep the shoulders back.
That was the point behind it 5 years ago. This is probably legit.
Now people seem to be prescribing magical qualities to the tape and talking about lymphatic drainage, blood flow, adhesion dissection, etc, etc. This is obviously bullshit.
However, the original point of kinesio tape is probably a reasonable idea. It is important not to lose track of this. Unfortunately, it has been co-opted by quacks and crazy people.

THIS. My wife is a certified athletic trainer. Her professional opinion (shared by every one of her co-workers over 3+ years that I’ve know and talked about the product) is that it’s complete bunk.
Like anything else it can have a placebo effect, and in short term usage may serve the same purpose as a standard tape job if applied properly.

But that doesnt make sense either, because why should you buy tape that costs like 5x that of normal athletic tape if your whole point is to use it as a essentially a rubber band around the wrist or string around the finger?
Because KT Tape/Rocktape can sell it to you at that price.
It’s like buying brand-name vs. generic - some people just impart some sort of mystical benefits to having say a svelte looking Nike running shirt when the cheap G9 Target brand performs almost the same. This is not to say I haven’t bought into the hype/truth/whatever-you-want-to-call-it…I have a roll of RockTape next to me as I’m typing this.
BUT, if what AndyPeterson says is true, then a cheap roll of athletic tape will do the same…maybe I’ll try that next time.
Thanks. Will give Spidertech a shot
