Best insulated cycling bottle that doesn’t have a nipple that gets “gummed” up from sports drink mix? 20-28oz.
I like the Polar insulated bottle with a Camelbak Podium cap on it (which has a removable nipple to clean out the gunk).

My unscientific comparison on polar and Camelback bottles last year showed the Camelback to keep colder longer in hot conditions.
I haven’t had trouble with Accelerade in my Camelback. The passive drink valve also makes it my preferred bottle for races. A cold drink is nice too.
I use two of these hydrapak wooly mammoth water bottles and it also works with the A2

Interesting. I was gonna go the other way on that one, but maybe we’re using different iterations of the camelback and polar bottles (I also haven’t been scientific about it either). I’ve only ever used the 24oz polar bottles, and the 20oz camelback podium chill bottles.
I like them both equally well, but I can’t fit 2 24oz polar bottles on my bike. I think it’s likely that I always find the camelback bottle warmer because I drink that one second (i.e drink the 24oz polar bottle on the downtube first, 20oz camelback second).

This.
Keeps stuff colder longer and is more flexible than Polar. Win-win.
That said, the best way to keep your drinks cold is to get an old cycling sock, soak it down and slide the bottle inside and put that in your cage. Prevents the bottle from “sweating” and keeps it cold for a long period of time. Was an easier trick back in the day of alloy cages where you could bend them to fit, but the theory still works.
(Note - that trick doesn’t work well in dry areas such as NM & AZ. Sucks the moisture right out of the sock).

+1.
I have a Polar, and 2x Camelbak chill.
Camelbak stays cold much longer.
The Polar has a more generic nipple, but it doesn’t leak.
I’ve had no problems w the CB valve system, other than gacking myself sometimes.
Gummed up? During use, or growing mold? Best way to clean is in a bleach & water solution, just soak overnight, you can even clean long tubes like this way with no scrubbing.
Looks like someone did a mildly scientific test between the Camelback and polar here: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/general-discussion/38840-insulated-bottle-test.html

My Polar has a foil liner and my Camelback Podium Chill has a thin foam liner - both are 20oz. I loaded them both up with the same number of ice cubes and topped off with the same fluids then went riding in hot summer weather. The ice was gone in the Polar at least 30min before the Camelback. It was a big enough difference that I’m confident it wasn’t a margin of error issue.

As discussed on a recent IMTalk podcast, it seems the Floe Bottle would handle this well considering the nipple is designed to support slushy drinks.
Scientific enough for me!
Floe bottle looks pretty sick. I’m wondering how a “high calorie” slushie would hold up vs. their recommended ice + water + electrolyte mix. Anybody tried any more substantial mixes in the Floe, such as Perpetuum, Infinit, Superstarch, etc?
I’ve tried structured water in it and it works wonders.

I’ve got an idea, maybe we can find a way to align the water molecules to keep it from getting clogged!

Does structured water have aligned molecules? Great minds think alike…and while we’re on the subject of REVOLUTIONARY SPORTS PERFORMANCE ENHANCING™ products, I’ve got an idea for a new one that’s going to make us rich!$!$ Not only do we remove carbohydrate from our sports drink, we also eliminate those pesky electrolytes, proteins, vitamins, etc. to create the world’s first STRUCTURED MEGAHOMEOPATHIC SPORTS DRINK™ (patent pending).!!!
Very helpful. Thanks for your valuable contribution to the discussion.

I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to me that you feel that way Ben. All of us kid triathletes are in your debt, literally, and my dream is to be able to make 0.01% of the contribution to the sport that you have. You have set the bar very high with your MIRACULOUS inventions, e.g. Magic Bracelets, Super Water, etc. - pure genius! I know it’s not going to be easy but my teacher at Grove Elementary School thinks I have the potential to be a great scientific researcher like you! Wish me luck!!
Any use the Podium bottle with concentrated nutrition (3 hours so 3x) (Infinit). Just wondering how the valve works with a thicker liquid.
