Best headphones for the run?

Wondering if anyone has a particular choice for good headphones for an iPod on the run. Looking for something that will stay in comfortably and sound good.

i dunno if you’ve run with the ones that come with the ipod, but those have worked well for me for a couple of years.

from my perspective…that would be none.

i’d rather hear what’s going on around me and soak it up.

i’ll go as far as to add i think it’s a bit safer as well.

The best I have found are made by Nike, and the only place I’ve seen them is Best Buy. They are a flexible “U” shape that is supported by the back of your neck, hence there is no bounce and can’t fall out/off. I’ve been using them for over a year, and have never had an issue with them.

They cost about $20.00, and have great sound.

I’m getting ready to deploy, so the only running I’ll be doing is on the treadmill. I think i’ll be safe enough.

Some time ago on this forum someone recommended the Koss Sportsclip, cannot remember the model KSC6 KSC9 or sometime like that.

I picked up a pair and have been happy with them but rarely use headphones these days so I can’t vouch for its durability.

ok.
let’s see…how to get out of this one.
oh…got it…thought you meant while running on the flight deck. (do they let you do that?)

no Jim…its a sub.

um…square away and stay safe anyway.

I have a set of Bang & Olufsen Earphones: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/web2/systems/product.asp?section=systems&sub=ls&prodid=33
Very good sound, and very comfortable. Everything on it is adjustable: the hook part, the height of the arm and the angle of the ear piece. Always stays in place while running or biking. Amazing quality aluminium and rubber finish and comes with a nice black leather carrying case.

A bit expensive, but quality costs, can be found cheap on eBay, also new ones.

Team CSC used them for team communication in races a couple of years ago.

I have a pair of these B&O - They are fantastic. Adjustable in all directions and the sound is just superb. I can wear them for hours with no discomfort. And as I said they sound fantastic. One problem is that they very expensive.

The Sony Fontopia EX81 is a great one for running and really blocks out outside noise pretty well.

Sure EC3 - awesome sound. Very pricey (especially if you think the B&O are). The EC4 are better yet with the moldable metal, but $400. I’d get the $200 EC3, then get some custom earmolds from a local audiologist (I did). Sure will tell you how to go about doing this.

There are at least two really involved threads on this subject in the archives. Lot’s of good info there, from true audiophile-snob “Bose & B&O sucks” types to budget minded. I suggest you try searching for them (Grey boxes above and to the left…)

I loved me Oakley Thumps until they died. It was like wearing no earphones at all, as the “buds” are not actually “in” your ear. You don’t even know they are there.
