Best frame upgrade from an '06 Lucero?

while I trust Cervelo pretty well, its hardly fair or valid to use their tunnel test alone as evidence of anything.

Correct but i think in this comparison the Lucero is so far off anyways that, its enough to say well they aren’t close. Even if you shift the Lucero line down 50g at every point you’re still increasing trend of drag at yaw for most points where, the DA, pinerello have at least a more or less downward trend at yaw.

Interesting is the link you showed and the link you responded to. I’m surprised how much the manaquin shuffled some of the results.

I guess what I was trying to say is that if you have $5k to spend why not get the P3C over the P2C?

I did a bit of research on the '06 Lucero a while back and the impression I got was that more attention may have gone into its appearance than minimizing the drag numbers, so it’s not that I think the bike is all that.

I shall now take my foot, and remove it from my mouth.

Even though the numbers are from Cervelo, you’re right, that’s a pretty big difference.

I concede that a '12 P2C is very likely more aero (much more) than an '06 Lucero.

Oh I understand where you are coming from my point was more along the lines of if you’re not running disc/deep front/ good aerobars/ aero helmet/ and maybe running a powermeter. The price difference between the p2 and p3 vs the drag difference doesn’t make much sense. But since he has everything and saying he can spend 5k I would go with whatever specialized or cervelo releases for next year. Assuming they are that much better. Otherwise I would just go with almost any of the superbikes because the ones at the top are more or less a wash at this point.

Wow! Bravo! I’m impressed. Someone admits they were mistaken on ST. You’re my hero for today!

Already have a quarq, disk, assortment of race wheels so really am looking to upgrading frame and maybe I’ll get a new gruppo too. Currently running ultegra 10 speed but quarq is SRAM so might go SRAM red or force.

If that’s the case, I agree with another post that you should wait to see what comes out at interbike and then make a decision. $5k is more than enough to get one of the new superbike framesets. Upgrading from ultegra is a waste of money unless you’re going to go to Di2.
