I have been told by other parents that I need to upgrade my chair since my butt will be in it a lot.
What is the best softball watching chair?

This is my favorite type of outdoor chair.

Folding chairs are crap these days. I have two that I bought about 20 years ago, the quality difference between them and todays chairs is astounding.
If I want one as good as those (I paid under $15 for each chair) now, I would have to pay at least $50.

I remember those days fondly. Mostly hockey and volleyball for us.
Arm rests and a cup holder are the must-have upgrades, and usually a basic folding chair has those. I advise not getting something too comfy otherwise you risk dozing off and that’s not a good look.
If it’s bleacher seats, you can go upgrade with a basic pad (but meh). More comfy to have something that also unfolds to give you a back rest. Even better if you have the arm rests and cup holder on the thing.
Edit - Shade? As in color… Should be in team colors of course. Extra points if you also get the team logo on it.
