I have not raced for a decade, and am wondering what the best elasticized laces are now? I just previously used basic elastic laces last time and they worked fine. Quick in transition and good even tightness. Has the tech changed? Anything better out there now? What are the advantages? Thanks
There really hasn’t been much advancement in the laces, what has changed are a lot of the shoe uppers. The knit uppers with no tongue are stretchy enough that you can leave the shoes tied with stock laces and just pull them on. I run in Nike Epic React Flyknits for training and just pull them on and off.
For elastic laces the go-tos are still either traditional ones like Lock Laces, or the “bumpy” ones like Caterpy (below) that allow you to have different tension along the shoe.
