Best cycling bibs

What are the best cycling bibs if cost does not matter?

Our new tri club used Champ Sys. They’re not pricey but are VERY comfortable. I can only compare to Pearl Izumi and Performance.

Swiss made and the best out there IMO.

I haven’t tried Assos yet, but I want to. Its just that I have been so happy with my Giordana Formas that I don’t want to mess with a good thing.

I have two pair of Giordana Forma bibs, and they are an amazing bib. Better than other bibs that I own (Descente, Pearl, DeMarchi, and Performance). Well worth the money.

I like these, been very impressed with the fit and feel, LG speed matrix bibs.

I really like my Specialized BG Pro RBX bibs. Very comfy.

We have team kits for our team which are comfortable as well, but the Specialized seem to be made with a much higher quality.

x2

Just got a pair. Crash replacement policy, 4 or 5 year full warranty, amazing chamois and they feel great on the bike. I got the Fi Uno for $170. They go all the way up to I think $370.

i have a set of the Gore Xenon Sonics that I really like. The chamois is really thin, but really comfortable.

Laugh if you must, but the Performance branded bib for about $60 is the best mesh of comfort and price I have come across in probably a decade. Assos feel amazing, but for shits sake they disintegrate before my eyes or at least my 2 pairs did. Pearl Izumis served me well too, but all I buy is the Performance…‘Ultra’ I believe. I snagged another pair around the holidays for maybe $50…unreal value.

I was thinking Assos but wanted some advice before dropping over $300.00 on bibs. Thanks

I know people who swear by them and for comfort I don’t know you can find a better brand than Assos, but I take care of my stuff and have never had a pair go bye bye faster.

I’m looking hard at the Twin Six, Desoto 400M, and Garneau Neo bibs. I already own Desoto stuff and I love my Forza’s. I have tried the Neo bibs and really like those also. I’m loving the price of the Twin Six bibs but I do not know anything about them other than they look good and have a decent price tag. Part of me wants to just get the Capo Modina kit and call it a day.

Anyone have any thing to say with the Twin Six and Capo stuff?

I would add Capoforma for consideration as I find the company’s bibshorts to be very nice as well. While I agree with the others that Asos tops the list, pricing tends to be a big deterent for me as I find it difficult when most of the Asos bibshorts cost $200 plus and for someone who rides more than once a week, the price tag gets pretty steep for multiple pairs.

+1 on Assos. I have yet to try anything that really compares to the quality and comfort. The price tag does leave a lot to be desired, though.

Really happy with the Desoto 400m bibs. Customer service is fanstatsic too.

Assos are the best I have worn (and I’ve ridden almost every brand) but they are the most expensive.

I really like Garneu and think they are the best in terms of value for quality. I.e. they aren’t quite as nice as Assos but almost and are much cheaper.

I like the Pearl Izumis and the 400 mile bib from DeSoto. Both are comfy, the chamois on the DeSoto’s is a little thinner. Performance are a good value but the pad is too thick for my comfort. I will also mention that Assos, Castelli fit the thinner build better than regular. I wear a medium in both the PI and DeSoto but a large Castelli and large or extra large Assos. I’m 5’9" 170lbs. I can also tell you that my Assos lasted about 1 season with twice weekly usage. Typically PI lasts 3-4 seasons and I’m starting my 3rd season with the DeSoto’s which have relaxed a little but are still in good shape. I ride about 6K miles a year and rotate 3 sets of bibs weekly.

Pardon the OT, but I’ve been road cycling for 10 years, and have never worn bibs. Why do people wear them?

Another vote for the 400 mile bibs from Desoto. Noticed a nice difference in the 2010 pad vs the 2009. Nice compression and doesn’t beat up the wallet too badly.

cost not being an issue…ASSOS. that being said, I really like my LGs and pearls.
