Looking for grip on wet surfaces, crashing sucks! So far went with Vredestein Fortezza; not disappointed, but wonder if anything better does exist. Continental GP 4 season? Other suggestion?

I’ve heard this bandied about. Michelin has great gripping tires and the tread on this is pretty thick.
This is with the assumption of racing. Though I’d add that softer tires do better in the wet.
I also really like the Zipp 28R (R=rain) in the Corse spec. Nice soft rubber. WIDE. Lots of grip.
The Conti 4000S II is my favorite clincher tire and it works pretty decent in the rain. Also has good rolling resistance.

+1. Tire tread makes absolutely no difference. It’s all about tread compound. The only thing that might come into play is how puncture resistant a tire is (the GP4000S is pretty good at that, actually) because the wet tires tend to pick up more crap.

I haven’t had to race the Power Competition in the rain - but it’s a pretty sweet feeling tire so far. Feels fast - would be interesting to get Tom A on this one in addition to the BRR test.

I guess everyone has their favourites, so here’s my 2¢…Schwalbe Ultremo Aqua. You can hear this tire almost sucking at the asphalt and behave like you’re riding on a warm dry road.
A bit of speciality tire; it feels extremely slow in dry conditions and is lightweight and supple as it doesn’t have much puncture protection. Having said that, I had a whole winter on a set without a puncture.
I use them as they’re now quite cheap if you can find them and I can only fit a 23c with PDC Full Metal Fenders.
These are, hands down, the best on wet roads. Just hope the rain doesn’t stop whilst you’re out!
I’ve raced on Turbo Cottons on tight crit-style courses and cobbles in wet, and I thought they were fine. Personally, I’ll run a 24 front/26 rear, which feels a little more confident diving around corners.
According to latest Tour tests, the new Schwalbe wet weather specific tyre is the best.
+1. They also last forever.
I don’t have enough personal experience with a wide variety of tyres to suggest any as being particularly good.
I think it makes quite a bit of difference how technical the descents are though. Some tyres give more confidence when leant over, but if you are doing a normal tri/TT you can get away with less grippy tires that last longer.
Punctures are also supposed to be more common in the wet. Personal experience of changing a tube in heavy rain means I will sacrifice some turning grip for puncture resistence.
Training tire or racing tire?

Yep of the few punctures on 4000s has been post rain
Use the one with less air in it.
