Best Burrito in the country (burrito porn)

Burrito Brothers in Hogtown, errr, Gainesville, Florida. Best Burritos anywhere by far. And homemade Guac and just-out-of-the-fryer chips, all the time. It’s a closet, but it’s great. El-Cheapo for poor college students as well.

Its a little far to go but I’d nominate El Charco de la Rana as the best taqueria in the world. They do good burritos, too. They’re in Mexico D.F.

taco loco in laguna beach is hard to beat. But the calamari burrito at taco laguna in the food court across from main beach is about the best anything i’ve ever eaten.

Jorge’s Mexicantessen - Adobado burrito is awesome and the texcoco soup has people in a line out the door every lunchtime.

Fidel’s (Del Mar) crab burrito is great as well.

We used to get off work at 2 a.m. and head down to Oki Dog for the pastrami burritos. I forget all of the fixins, but there was a hot dog, pastrami, potatoes, veggies, beans, cheese and just about anything else in these. This decription from a website sums it up:

Oki became a punk hangout in the late seventies, probably because it was close to the Starwood and other Hollywood clubs, it was open late and made burritos as big as your arm for under $3. Plus it had a nice big parking lot for socializing. But soon the police and the neighbors put a damper on the fun.

Have not been there is years, but I do tell my kids the tales of our late night feeding frenzies.

I don’t know. I don’t think there are any really good Mexican Food places in California. When I go home to El Paso…Even H and H car wash* has better burritos or any other mexican food than you can find here. I’ll vote for Julio’s Corona either in El Paso or Juarez.

*Actually H & H has been written up in nationally syndicated magazines.

You gringos up in MA and WI, you think that’s a burrito? That ain’t no stinkin’ burrito.

Burritos have either red or green chile, sometimes both. Lots of it. And pinto beans. I went to one of these poser burrito places the other day. Black beans, “Cajun Catfish,” BBQ carnitas, that sort of place. Tasty? Yes. But I’m sad to say a desecration of the noble ideal of a burrito nonetheless. My grandmother, born in Albuquerque in 1896, a woman who made flour tortillas nearly every day of her adult life and always had chile on the stove or in the fridge, rolled in her grave.

Gator, you are a man after my own heart. It pains me to tell you that Ruben’s, though no doubt a fine meal, is wide off the mark. Spend a week wandering the hole-in-the-wall places between Taos and Belen, your search will be rewarded.

The best? Are we talking All Time Best? Carne adovado burrito. M&J’s Sanitary Tortilla Factory, Albuquerque NM. The old one, when Bea owned it. Alas, at this point in time a mere memory, a legend, destined to be a fable.

My grandmother, born in El Paso in 1919 also made fresh flour tortilla’s every day of here life. I stil have the receipt but they are never the same. I have burrito’s in my blood

Ok! Post it!

yup thats the one- turned my bowels to mush, but worth it

Southern Californians and Nevadans!

Roberto’s Carne Asada Burritos are the best in the World!

Second that!!!

With a side of 3 rolled tacos with guac.

the fish burrito at los barrcas on beach drive in huntington beach, ca is the best i have ever had. the halibut/red snapper/whatever they caught was swimming that morning and just dying to be covered up in beans and salsa. divine!!! there is also an excellent, touristy fish burrito to be had in old town san diego at the place where the old ladies make the tortillas by hand. rachel ray even had one in her lame $40/day show on the food network. it is cable worthy of praise

Fast food joint - Tito’s Tacos in West L.A./Culver City. Real meat, not ground beef.

Sit down Restaurant - Gilbert’s El Indio in Santa Monica. It’s the only time I break my one health rule and eat something bigger than my head.
