I have EE and have had the past 3 DA brakes and the EE brakes work the best when headed down HC climbs… that said, my next road bike will have hydraulic disc brakes. I’m not a fan typically of the VN tests - they toss in pretty weak subjective ‘scores’ along side their quantitative measurements which skew things horribly. They also don’t substantiate quant scores; for example, in their road bike review, they very clearly favor the qualitative feel of the Supersix, but the quant scores put the Supersix far, far below other bikes, most notably the Sworks Tarmac, which would tell me they need to spend some more time substantiating ideal ranges for the quant scores, rather than giving the impression that higher is better. I do trust the Fairwheel tests, and read down to see that the initial 3mm of cable pull slots it lower than DA, Red and THM (much love for THM all around), but the reviewer is very clear that this initial 3mm is also what makes this brake so great in terms of amazing clearance. note: Cane Creek has taken over EE brake production and it looks to be going really well. EE brakes are only expensive until you look at AX-lightness and THM…
The new FSA brakes look really nice, though it is largely taking the EE design: https://www.bikerumor.com/...ron-tt-brakes-21.jpg
I’d also seriously consider the SRAM hydraulic rim brakes, if you were getting new brifters.
note: all of the brakes I recommend route the cable near vertical in front of the headtube.
