Best bike bibs?

in the market for some new bibs shorts what are your opinions on the best ones? and should they offer much copmpression to your thighs? my tri shorts feel great cause they have lots of compression but my bibs do not seem to thanks

ASSOS

The best and likely the most expensive… I wish they made tri clothing.

Castelli, Giordana or Santini if you don’t want to fork out for Assos. Wait a month or so and get good deals on soon to be disbanded pro team kit.

top of the line Louis Garneau is pretty nice. i was told to never even try assos bibs, it makes the other obsolete and that makes them even more expensive!

being 6’2 and 220 pro stuff generally does not work but will look at assos thanks
.

Ignoring cost-can’t argue with the fans of the top of the line Assos, but considering cost-take a look at Desoto
.

Descente Aero-X bibs - great support / fit / chamois. I have tried a lot of bibs and I mean a lot. For the $$ they are a good value. Bibs are a very personal thing and it boils down to the material, craftsmanship, and chamois. I am probably one of the few people who find Assos ok and not off the charts because I am not that crazy about the way their chamois feels when I am in the aero position. That being said, the craftsmanship and quality are tremendous. Take a look at the Descente line. I believe CSC was using their stuff this season and very pleased with it. Good luck.

I used to swear by Assos, but, I’m off them now that I found Etxeondo. Best bibs I have ever worn and cost about $150-175 for top of line, which is far less than Assos. Three layer chamois is far superior than any other I have worn. One layer is sewn to the outer, one layer sticks to your skin, the third “floats”. Chamois stays in place and fits perfectly.

I am a hair under 6’ 2" (like you). So, sometimes the shoulder straps are tight on some bibs. Not Etxeondo. Perfect fit.

A friend of mine swears by Exteondo - he’s about 5’9, 200. They fit him quite well and he’s not a small guy.

Me, I love my DeMarchi stuff. I’m only large by a triathlete’s standards, but I need a large - 6’, 174. I must have two identical pairs so I’m never without mine.

I (like many other ST’ers) am really digging the DeSoto 400 mile bibs.

Very comfy, in fact moreso now that they’ve got a few rides in 'em than the first time I wore 'em. The little pockets on the legs are handy too, I kept a camera in there on Sunday to take pics of a local ride (and mebbe one of these days I’ll actually get around to downloading and posting 'em).

I cna’t compare to Assos, et al (since there is no f’n way I’ll spend $200+ on a pair of bike shorts), but I think for the price they cannot be beat. And if ya don’t like 'em, DeSoto has the best guarantee in the business.
