Best bibs (for the money)

I started cycling with shorts - I have a few ‘nice’ pairs (60-90 bucks). But there ain’t nothing than feels as good as a bib. I’ve decided that from now on, I won’t be buying anything but bibs.

What do you guys think? What’s the best bib for the money? I have my eye on these bad boys- http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-iZUMi-Quest-Cycling-XX-Large/dp/B002KT3XT4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335572721&sr=8-1

Love to hear from anyone with suggestions, recommendations or sales…

Desoto 400 mile bib.

Those are probably fine in the ~$50 range, I generally buy what competitivecyclist.com has on closeout/clearance.

Performance Ultra bibs

aren’t they like… a million dollars?

Try Rapha Classic and you will never wear anything else, ever.

Nope. $150. Sell something and buy them. Thanks me later.

Having worn both $50 bibs and $200+ bibs, you seriously get what you pay for. 4x the cost, but more than 4x the comfort.

I agree with the idea of watching competitivecyclist or chainlove for a good deal on a premium set of bibs. Well worth the time investment.

I got a pair of Craft bibs from Dept of Goods last week. Great deal for 65 bucks:

Desoto 400…more is more.

DeSoto 400mi bibs.

I love Sugoi RS bib shorts … I even put the chamois into my team bib shorts

They’re all I ever ride in anymore. I’m going to buy a second pair for sure.

Performance. I have several $150+ bibs and the Performance bibs are the same quality & comfort. I have both the Ultra & Elite and both are great depending on how thick you want your chamois.

Although I have never tried them, Voler often comes up on these “best for the price” threads.

Thank you (and everyone) for the replies - keep them coming! I just got a bonus from my work… and like every other paycheck, it’s going to triathlon…

I’ll go against the flow and say I do not like the 400 Mile bibs. Owned 2 pair and the seams came apart on both.

My cheaper Sufferfest F2P bibs are more comfortable and have held up better. http://www.thesufferfest.com/gear/

I have several 400mi bibs and shorts and I’ve never had this problem. I also have tri shorts…no issues.

Did Emilo replace them for you? I am pretty sure you qualify for the “Good Guy” warranty replacement plan.

Assos is really good stuff, and while they are my go-to bibs for long days in the saddle, I find Castelli and Giordanas to be really good value for money for daily training bibs.

The $50 Castellis on Bonktown are the best bang-for-the-buck, IMO.

I find Performance Ultras and the Wiggle dhb bibs to be sized for fatties. Their Ms are very loose around the stomach, causing my junk to move around while cycling. And that isn’t nice.
