Best bar tape?

about to tape my bullhorns (no upturn at the lever). I’m 90% sure I’m gonna go with skateboard grip tape, but before I do that does anyone have any other suggestions?

My hands can get pretty slippery when wet, so I need grippy.

Interesting, where do I get some?

Interesting… You heat shrink it to size? Could be nice to hold eTap blips in place on the base bar, I find regular width bar tape is a bit awkward.

Tennis racket overgrip. Good grip and super cheap. No cushion though.

Don’t need cushioning on the tri bike, I’m not in the bullhorns that much. Just need grip.

Exactly that stuff, and yes it heat-shrinks on. Once on it stays in place pretty well because it conforms to the shape of the bars. If you wanted cushioning you could try closed cell foam underneath. With Di2, I used pvc insulation tape underneath.

And red is the best of course.

at $5 this stuff is too cheap not to try. 25 mm size?

Agreed, I ordered the 25mm… Estimated delivery is April 30 - May 21 though.

But maybe the advertising just works on me. It took me a bit to figure out the bar tape.

Says its a 1:2 shrinkage ratio, so I might even go with 30mm to make it easier to get past the brake levers without removing them? I’ll probably order both sizes and whichever size I don’t need I’ll give to my fishing buddies.

Supacaz

What he said. I use Supacaz on all my bikes

$40 for bar tape???

Worth every penny.

That sounds as though it would also work on my Enve basebar, as it a bit difficult to find a way to wrap it. Thanks for the great tip!

I go for a larger size typically. It shrinks 2:1 (or a bit more) so 40mm diameter should be good for most extensions. Some base bars need a bit larger diameter for ease of getting round bends.

You might need to get creative to use it on the Enves. A section with a slot for the basebar cut in might work, but it tends to curl back on itself around the edge of a slot if you’re not careful.

I’ve used that and really like it. No cushion, which is what I wanted, and plenty of grip even when wet. It’s not very stretchy so following the bar bends was a bit tricky. I used tennis racket overgrip tape for a few years but that stuff was a magnet for dirt.
