I live alone, am single, and rarely have time to cook fresh “real” meals.
Just curious to see what other people who are/ have been in my similar situation eat or suppliment to habdle the Triathlon workload.
My diet is 90% made up of Cereal, Clif Bars, bananas, PB & J sandwiches, bagels, peanuts, subway, burritos, pizza, quesadillas, OJ, rice/bean/ground turkey/cheese combonations and sometimes Quinoa.
sounds to me like you need to plan your weeks meals ahead for better nutrition.
That way you won’t have to stick to packaged and quick to get to meals when you are hungry.
Get a grill, Cook all your meat on sunday evening, theres your protein.
Steamfresh bags of veggies/rice…thats instant.
I eat the same stuff all the time and it doesn’t bug me but here’s some stuff that’s pretty easy to cook.
Sautéed shrimp(I buy the 2 lb frozen bag at Costco)
Tuna & cheese on salad w/ dressing
Chicken breasts w/ rice
Pork chops w/ rice
Pasta (Costco lasagna, Costco cheese ravioli, tortellini, etc.)
Sausage w/ rice
Steamed broccoli (Costco frozen bags) as a side for anything above fills ya up and not many calories at all.
The longest to cook is the lasagna but it just sits in the oven for 2 hours(I do it on the weekend after a long ride, eat most of it and have some leftovers for next day). The other stuff is fairly quick easily less than 30 minutes(assuming rice cooker).
I hear people love doing crock pot stuff as they just throw a bunch of stuff in it and have it go all day while they are work but it seems too fancy for me.
Bag of frozen chicken breast - frozen to fully cooked = 15min. I use rotisserie chicken seasoning.
Bag of frozen pre-cooked (boiled) shrimp.
Salmon Fillets - I buy fresh as needed. 8 min per side in the broiler and it’s done.
pineapple
chunky soup
lean sirloin. Bought fresh as needed.
Ham - full ham, cook on the weekend and have left overs for the week.
spaghetti with ground turkey in the sauce.

What else you bad ass bachelors got?
.
You’re not working out hard enough then. When I’m cranking out the workouts, it’s carbs carbs and more carbs. I’ll down 1.5 boxes of pasta in a single sitting no problem.
Learn to cook pasta and rice - the rest will come easy after that or you could even purchase the extra toppings.
What I love is when people say: "I have this recipe that’s so easy anyone can do it. It only takes 45 minutes. You start by chopping the onions, slicing the carrots, and peeling the potatoes… "
These people don’t understand my definition of “easy”. I’m talking 5 minutes preparation tops. If it involves slicing up vegetables or combining more than 2 ingredients into a sauce, you’ve already lost me.
Cook a big meal Sunday night and eat the leftovers.
As a man, you should be able to make chili. Lean ground beef or turkey, two cans of chili beans, two cans of tomatoes, I add green and yellow pepper. Season to your preference. I like red pepper flakes, Tabasco, and brown sugar to get the sweet/spicy thing goin on.
Good winter recipe Im making tonight - Chicken and dumplings. Boil chicken until cooked 30 45 mins. Drain half the water, remove chicken and set aside. Add in two cans of chicken broth, boil torn up Grands biscuits, carrots, celery, sweet onion season with basil, oregano, Italian seasoning.
Have your mom make a pan of lasagna for dinner, and take home the leftovers.
5 minutes? Do you not like food? Seriously people, just learn to cook. It isn’t hard. You get food the way you like it, and you can eat healthy. This whole bachelor that can’t cook thing is a load of crap. I went from a bachelor that couldn’t cook to one that could to one that cooks for my family, after getting home from work (which is a 1 hour bike commute). So suck it up sweet hearts.

Gosh. Have you never been introduced to the concept that different things make different people happy? Or is your basic premise in life that anyhing different from your own preferences and experiences is wrong?
I probably should have added that I “know” how to cook. I have worked in kitchens for 20 years. I am currently not in a kitchen job, working 60+ hours a weeks plus working out around 12ish. I feel like I don’t have a lot of extra time to cook for one. I have done the crock pot thing which is pretty sweet.
I was curious to see what other “not so healthy” staples people like me are living off of, and keeping fit. It looks like a lot of you can cook, which is great! I am happy to not see donuts, cupcakes, hot dogs, and crap on everyones lists
