Best aluminum cyclocross bike?

I’m shopping for a new CX frame, but it has to be aluminum
cantilever brake, I have no intention of buying disc wheels…

I’m thinking of:
cannondale CAAD 9 or X
Brodie romax alu

I have a Colnago World Cup think it is fantastic.

I’d argue for the Redline Conquest Team

I’m not sure what you mean by “best” but the Felt F15X, Santa Cruz Stigmata, Salsa Chili Con Crosso, and Ridley X-Ride are pretty sweet. I think Empella and Van Dessel make some nice aluminum frames too.

Stevens Prestige

From what i have done to that bike and it still being a solid machine… I wont buy any other brand but Stevens for a cross bike now.

I used to ride a Salsa Chili Con Crosso. Nice bike that comes speced with a great groupo and the Easton Carbon fork is quite nice.

My current ride is a Specialized Tricross Pro. Carbon wishbone seat stay and carbon fork really suck up bumps when riding it as my rain bike (w/ slicks and higher pressure). Works just great for CX too. The new X is a good looking bike. However for the price, the Felt F15X is a super deal.

+1. Got one for cross racing last fall, and love it. Handles great, and worthy of upgrades as parts wear out. Makes a great winter training bike as well.

I would watch the e-bay. I picked up a Kona scandium frame and fork (enve) for five bills a month or so ago. The fork retails for more than that. I would consider Redline, Kona, Raleigh (they may all be carbon now), Salsa, Ridley, Cannondale, Fort, Trek XO, Sevens , Specalized, Giant or Emprella in a heart beat at the best price. It is a tool to be abused. Unlike my other other bikes I buy cyclocross bikes and plan to use them like a hammer with the world being my nail until the thing don’t work and then get another.

love my Ridley crossbow

this is exactly what I want to do, I’m looking for suggestions what to look for

Ridley x-ride I think it’s called. Or, depending on what size you need, I know someone with a lot of low-mileage x-fires for sale…

if you are shorter than 5 foot 9, I would be more concerned about finding the correct fitting bike rather than brand. depending upon your body proportions, it can be hard to find a good stock bike for those who are not average or above average in height

thanks for the input, but I’m not new in the cycling business.
I’m 5’10’’

I just went through this process in Sept., and the best bike I could buy, for the money and to fit me, was actually a Giant. I have a womens specific Giant TCX and I absolutely love it! It is aluminum, has a carbon fork, cantilever brakes, top-routed cables, and SRAM Rival, all for less than any other bike with the same specs. I admit, I wasn’t too keen on buying a Giant at first, but it is a sexy bike and I am totally in love with it  It is also lighter than my P2C, even with cross tires on it! My husband bought a Cannondale CAADX and he loves his, too, but mine is hotter.

Those mentioned are good, but you can’t go wrong with an aluminum Cannondale!

If you haven’t considered the Empella Bonfire SL, then you haven’t considered the best alloy cross bike ever made

It’s not only awesome, it’s gorgeous. But there is something to be said for a company that only makes cross bikes.
