Best "almost" race flats for neutral feet

I’m looking for a shoe who’s just a little more then a race flats. I love race flats and feel very good in them but they are not really recommanded for 20k + I heard the lunar is good any other opinion

thank you

Try Asics Speedstar, They are very light with good forefoot cushioning and a light heel.

I have feet problems and cant go with a true race flat so I have been using the Lunar Trainer and have had no problems. It is relatively light as well. Hope they continue to make it I heard it was going to be discontinued.

I like the Nike Zoom Victory. Wore a pair for Boston last April. They are lightweight but give enough cushioning for the pounding your legs take on long runs.

Sounds like you want something a little beefier than a racing flat. I’ve used Nike Air Zoom Marathon, and Adidas AdiZero Mana for half to full marathons. I’ve run all my longer race PRs in the Mana’s.

I run nearly all my runs in the lunar racer and they’re fine. Occasionally run in the air zoom marathoner, but the lunar racer are just fine for any distance. That said, I’m not exactly heavy.

I love the Asics Hyperspeeds. I’ve run up to a marathon in them, but prefer halfs in them. Macca runs in them (or at least use to) in his IMs. Kinda depends on your weight.

Plus you can usually find them between $60-70.

Might be a bit beefier than you had in mind, but I you should check out the Brooks Launch. I guess it’s a ‘performance trainer’ or a ‘lightweight trainer.’ There’s also the Mizuno Precision in that category.

asics speedstar 4
.

Pearl Izumi Streak, I love this shoe and it looks sharp too. Runners warehouse has the red ones on sale right mow also.

Zoot Ultra Racer or TT 2.0. Ultra light and ultra flexible with a real feel for the road. I have done a marathon in them and my feet and legs felt fine.

I was thinking about getting the Zoot Ultra Racers - so they are good for neutral pronators?

Yes, but you have to stay with the ultra racer or the tt 2.0, the advantage and the temp+ are for pronators. The TT2.0 has just a bit more support than the racer.

  • 1 on hyperspeeds. sometimes use the banditos also.

I think the Nike Zoom Marathon is the best thing since sliced bread and is a “little more” than tradition flats but is still really a flat. Best neutral training shoes that could double for flats for me are currently Mizuno Wave Precision.

Another rec for Mizuno Wave Precisions…also take a look at Puma Complete Road Racer. Although they both fall into that “lightweight trainer” cat, they’re quite different shoes which somehow seem to work in my rotation.

My vote goes to the Lunar Racers. Also, I’ve never worn the Adidas AdiZero but have heard realtively good reviews and it would seem to fit your category.

also recommend mizuno wave precision…great racing and training shoe…

have also raced a marathon in Newton racers…b2

Lunar Racers are more cushioned than most of the trainers I’ve owned. At that weight it’s freakish, frankly.

Brooks Launch is a good option, if it fits your foot properly.
