I am close to registering but am struggling to settle on accommodations. I want an all inclusive. There are so many and a lot have bad reviews. Any recommendations on the more affordable options that would have descent food and a good location for the race and a holiday? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Whats “more affordable” to you? Are you taking kids?
In my experience, all inclusive are ALWAYS going to have some bad reviews. People spending their life savings and expecting to be treated like royalty. Don’t be scared off by a few negative reviews.
Disclaimer- I have travelled to quite a few all inclusives, but none in Cozumel.
No kids. My husband and I. We looked at Cozumel hotel and resort. Grand park. They seem pretty reasonable even with flights. They are on the list of race hotels too. Cozumel place got a lot of positive feedback on a St thread but it’s a lot more expensive.

I have done a few all few all inclusives as well and found the same thing with reviews. I guess I’m nervous because I’m going to do ironman and that’s different than going to relax with my kids.
Stayed at the Hotel Cozumeleno in 2014. Food is ok, not great, and drinks are bottom shelf. They do a great job with race logistics (mechanic, shuttle, spectator support during run, etc). The winner stayed there too. Pretty cheap. There are higher end hotels. Nice staff.
Stayed at the Allegro couple years back – no complaints. Food was decent, nice rooms, but the best was it has its own beach so swimming was no issue.

El cid la ceiba beach, best all inclusive for the price. I had an ocean view with balcony even though the room said I would have garden view. The food and drinks were awesome. Room and property way nicer than the host hotel I stayed in the 2 nights before. Good location for race too.
Even if you go AI don’t miss the awesome restaurants on Cozumel. Some really really good food there
We stayed at Occidental Grand last year. Nice beach and amenities. Great diving. Bike mechanic on site for two days before the race. It’s away from Downtown, but the shuttles on race day made everything very easy and it seemed that two of every three cars on the island is a taxi. It’s on the bike course and I passed by three times on the bike during the race so the family would estimate when I would be there based on the tracker and wander out from the pool to watch me go by. Very convenient for them.
I stayed at the Fiesta Americana last year. Its an all inclusive and has a good number of restaurants (decent variety), fairly newly renovated, right on the beach (easy access to the swim course). I really liked it, and of the race hotels it was on the more affordable end of things. they were also very accomodating to IM athletes, prepared an early morning breakfast for athletes, late checkout after the race, and even little IM goodies for each athletes upon return to the room after the race. Id stay there again, no questions asked
Hotel Cozumel is cheap and a 10 min walk to the finish/t2.
It won’t be good enough for some but is fine for someone with modest tastes like myself.

Anything in particular stand out? I was leaning towards Hotel Cozumel due to price and location. It will be me only (really just need a bed and I’m set) for a couple days and then my wife is flying in on Saturday before race. We will stay until Tues and then move over to a time share in Cancun.
I contacted them about setting up the various rates for each day and they just gave me a discount code to use online but that was still way more expensive than booking through Expedia/Kayak/etc.
