Best aero helmet for women w/ long hair?

Hey all you ST’ers who are CONSTANTLY in the know of all things triathlon related - my wife (who loves to race as much, if not more, than me!) has recently been complaining how her long hair will not fit into her aero helmet during races. When this happens, she can’t get it down on her head properly, thus causing a safety, as well as fashion, issue. My question to all you female ST’er’s is, what aero helmet out there these days has a wider cradle (adjustable inner part?) that she’d be able to pull down over a ponytail set-up?

Any, and all, ideas or links are appreciated…

Happy training and racing to all!

Find a nice Giro Aero Advantage 2 from a couple of years ago. There’s plenty of room in there and the helmet is still quite good.

is she piling her hair on her head? I have long hair and haven’t had a problem w any helmet fitting, but I wear my hair in braids. she could try a diff hair style.

I recently gave a female pro friend of mine an LG P-09 helmet and she quickly discovered a feature in the rear of the helmet designed to keep her hair tucked in the helmet and out of the wind! It’s hard to describe but it’s a nifty little feature… it’s like a piece of elastic cloth at the back side of the helmet. She just kind of “popped” her bun through the opening in that cloth and it stayed up!

My girlfriend moved from a ponytail braid (which she wears in her road helmet) to a french braid for her aero helmet. That tends to keep her hair tight up against her neck, and easier to fit into an aero helmet

I’ve got long hair and wear a P-09 and a Giro Synthe. No issues with either. I wear my hair in a low ponytail, specifically so my helmet fits without having to do anything more time-consuming than jamming it on my head and doing it up. For a racing situation, I wouldn’t want to be messing with threading a ponytail through or up into anything at the back of the helmet. That’s just a waste of time.
