I want cheap and comfy (yes both.) Going in November. TYIA!
cheap??? you are talking about Bermuda.
yes.
i hear there is a place down there where lots of planes and boats have found a place to stay… some type of triangle of sorts.
Love it down there, but the only way to stay on the cheap is to stay in a guest house. The nice hotels (Fairmont) are pretty pricey, though you might be able to get a package deal. Bermuda just simply isn’t cheap. Also, November isn’t exactly beach weather, but it will be nice nonetheless.
firstly, define “cheap”.
I stayed at the Fairmont down there. I’m not sure what you consider cheap. There are two of them and I was at the one near Horseshoe Beach. It was pretty nice.
Agree though. Bermuda and cheap aren’t usually in the same sentence…
Here are my ideas:
vrbo has some 100/night condos. I can’t find anything cheaper than that.
Boston has a cruise that docks in Bermuda for a week. It can be as cheap as $600 per person. Problem is that I don’t want to stay for a whole week so the cruise is prolly not an option.
In my experience Fairmont hotels are horribly expensive (but awesome) unless you can get a deal on Hotwire or Priceline which I am monitoring.
I know November is not the premium time to visit but it works for my schedule and I’ve always wanted to visit.

I also stayed there and although it is a perfect spot (near Horseshoe), and the grounds are nice, I was underwhlemed by the service and the general upkeep of the hotel. For a Fairmont, the rooms should be much better.
The other one is in Hamilton, but I haven’t stayed there.
I did stay in a guest house on the North shore near Shelley Bay, but it was when I was in HS and it wasn’t exactly high-end accommodation. I just remember tear-assing around Bermuda on mopeds and getting stopped for not wearing our shirts. So uncivilized

This is the kind of trip that I want! So I guess think high school!!!
Check out Greene’s guest house
they have a pool, are pretty close to the beaches (not walking distance, but not too far), and on top of that, they are really nice folks…
I have no idea what they charge though…
:D,
i’m a US expat working in Bermuda. It just so happens that my 4 years of work end on 10/31 and i’m leaving that weekend.
November is not a bad month but it can be cloudy, windy and some rain. That is the end of hurricane season. But we get very few hurricane problems, it’s a really small target (25 miles) in a really big ocean. Florida has about 1200 miles of coastline.
The temps are in the 70s during the day, maybe high 60s for lows at night. Water temp is in the mid 70s, quite nice.
http://www.weather.bm/ click on CLIMATE tab and you can check prior novembers for comparison.
I have not helped people find accomodations so i’m not really familiar with the good but cheap places. but a 100 a night condo is probably a good deal.
I think the curise is a week long but is only here for 2 or 3 days. The one my aunt took had one day in hamilton (capital) and one day in dockyard (old fort on end of island). it moved overnight. I don’t think you would want to bother to rent a condo. November is not a big tourist month so usually there are plenty of good deals. you might be able to get the Fairmont of $100 a night.
If you fly in and rent a condo plan on renting a scooter. I think they are a bit pricey so check in advance. there are no car rentals and taxis get expensive. Bus service is good but not super frequent. get a book of passes or something and it’s reasonable, pay per trip and it’s expnesive.
might want to think about what you want to do here and try to get a place near that. Best beaches are on south shore near the Fairmont. (also, there is a Fairmont in town) or do you want to be in town? Or away from everything at the end of the island.
Let me know if you have any questions and i’ll try to help.
