The route for this year has been revealed and parts of it is in my neck of the woods near Lake Hodges.
Does anybody know how spectating is managed for BWR? Do they close the trails completely or is it possible to ride ahead and camp out to watch the fun?
It looks like Tiffany Cromwell and her partner F1 driver Valtteri Bottas are in Cali. I’m assuming Tiffany is racing…I wonder if Valtteri will be on pit crew duty or if his employer will let him race too?

Just saw this, but perhaps this would be helpful for someone for next year - I did the Wafer and all of the course was open to other users, so you could have definitely gone out and spectated along the course. The consensus seems to be that the courses were tougher than last year.
The courses might have been a bit tougher with the addition of Raptor Ridge and Twin Oaks but the conditions were 10x easier than last year.

Roofvogel Bergkam was pretty tough. Steep sandy singletrack. I loved it, but because of the number of riders on course I had to dismount more often.
Black Canyon was 80% washboard and the descents were sketch. Saw a lady break her collarbone.
Wildeman Wildneris was the worst though. Endless pushing bumps, especially the descent. Also, near peak time of day and no wind made it stifling back there.
Marginally longer than my last time in 2019, but WAY harder. All that extra offroad really slowed things down.

Congrats on the ride. Both days the routes had some tough spots but looked like a lot of fun.
I didn’t end up spectating either day but did follow some of the IG live coverage and did see that the course seemed open for spectators/other trail users.
During the finish line area coverage, one of the Waffle riders was talking about his collision with a hiker on one of the sections. Both were able to continue apparently after words were exchanged!
Yes, I saw plenty of hikers both times we rode the trail adjacent to Double Peak, and along Lake Hodges. Fortunately, most of the time it is wide enough for easy passing. But not all the time ;(
