During the last 2 runs I’ve experienced a new pain that I’ve never had before. When my left leg kicks up/back, I feel a strain on something running from the back of my knee up to my lower hamstring. It hurts ONLY when my lower leg is pulling back or up. Anyone have a similar issue or know what it could be? The good news is that it feels much better in the morning, so I’ll probably just take a couple days of running off and take it easy for a week or so.
Sounds like a hammy issue to me…Have you changed the height of your seat lately, making it lower? In turn, are you doing more bricks than usual?

this is actually happening to me right now. I finished a HIM two weekends ago with lots of cramps and pain. Since then, I have been having this pain behind the knee. I asked a friend and he told me I might have a fiber tear down there. His advice: just rest, ice, and elevation. As a result of this pain I am only running in the pool; it is not the same but it helps a little.
I hope you get better,

Haven’t changed my seat height in a long time. I’m also not doing more bricks than usual, but I did a long brick a week and a half ago, but didn’t experience any pain until a couple days ago. The pain isn’t anything serious, but it’s concerning. I’m wondering if I should still do a sprint on Sunday.
Careful! I have the same thing going on. Started with a slight soreness at the hammy attachment point behind the knee. Then, about 3 1/2 weeks ago, during a routine 10 mile run, it completely gave loose. Diagnosed as a slight ligament tear at the hammy attachment point.
I have been restricted to water running and have 1 or 2 theraputic massages each week. It is taking a long time, but, is healing. I am trying to do a HIM this weekend.
I have been riding, but, coach thinks that may be aggravating it and has tried to get me to reduce volume.
The only reason I asked about the seat height was an experience I had two weeks ago. Cervelo warrantied out my post and I took it to my FORMER LBS to get the switch. They made the swtich and said my seat position and height was exactly as it had been bofore. I trusted their work and did not double checke the measurements.
I did an Oly the next day and my knee started killing me in the back near the hammy. I figured it was me hammering on the bike and run that caused the pain. I rode 60 miles this past Saturday and same thin, killing pain behind the knee and lower hammy…So, I went and checked the “work” they’d done and found my seat was 3-4 cms too low, thus I was basically crushing my knee together in two races.
