Beet Powder, juice or Beet shots

Hi,

There seems to be lots of choices. Any difference in terms of success rate? I was in communication with Beet It shots company…I was very interested but the sports shots version is non-organic…so that gave me pause.

Thoughts?

They have an organic version as well but because it is grown without synthetic nitrogenous containing fertilizer it has lower nitrates. That would be try of any company that uses organic beets so you need to choose whether you want organic or less nitrates.

I started using the powder as it seemed like a cost effective way to do it, but I was a bit sceptical about how many nitrates I was actually getting. This may or may not be the case for all powders/non concentrated juices but a lot of them can be quite variable in the amount of nitrates they contain depending on the condition of the beets that were used. I switched over to Beet-It shots during Tour of the Gila and noticed a big difference since it was at altitude where this stuff has the biggest effect. With the shots you know you’re getting a controlled level of nitrate, plus since none of this stuff tastes particularly incredible, at least you only have to put up with it for a swig or two!

For full disclosure, I have since been included into Beet-It’s ambassador program, but I was in fact buying their stuff for a long time before hand. If you decide to go with their products, check this link out for 10% off any of their products with the coupon BA010.

Hope this can be of some use to you!

Where you ok with it not being organic?

I’m fine with it. I don’t eat 100% organic foods and generally try to pick the ones that make the most sense to splurge on getting organic. Basically for me that means anything you eat the outer skin on. I think of a beet as being fairly well protected by it’s peel, and like a previous poster mentioned you have to decide which trade off you want…organic or a higher concentration of nitrates. Of course, the organic stuff can still be used very effectively for sport if organic is important to you.

Link is now fixed in previous post.

ok, please attach link. Its a UK product…so hefty shipping cost?

Link is fixed, and it’s for the US/Canadian site which should be a lot better than shipping from the UK.

not seeing link…do you mean code?

Sorry, I just put it into the word “link”…the actual URL is http://beetit.com/PRODUCTS/CATALOGUE/?AID=12
.

ok, gonna give it a try. just ordered. thanks for the code!

My pleasure! Enjoy!

I HATE beets. Won’t allow them in my home … EVER. Simply seeing them makes me nauseous and the smell makes me want to hurl.

I have tried them all; powder, concentrate, bottled and fresh juice. My experience is that the fresh juice (straight from my Breville machine) gives me the best performance boost (and the deepest color of red urine). Also, please do some research on this topic. Apparently, the biological process for converting all of this stuff into the final form of Nitric Oxide requires bacteria in your saliva. Don’t use mouth wash the day you consume beet juice.
