BB30 on Argon 18 E-112/114?

Apologies if this has been discussed before - I couldn’t find it.

I’m wondering if any Argon 18 E-112 or E-114 owners use BB30. Argon’s literature on these (presumably discontinued) frames used to say: “Bottom bracket: English type thread or BB30, using FSA threaded adaptor, not included, available from FSA”. Now it says simply: “Bottom bracket: English type thread or BB30”. The stock frame comes GXP ready. I assume that to go BB30, one swaps out the stock GXP adapter and installs the FSA BB30 adapter (both of which seem kind of odd, of course). Most complete E-112/114 bikes that I see online are GXP, which makes me wonder whether BB30 is considered sub-optimal in these frames, even though it’s an option (e.g., does the adapter negate other advantages of BB30?). In theory I would go with a SRAM Force BB30 crankset when I have my E-112 frame built up, but I’m interested to hear informed opinions on going that route. Budget permitting, I am considering going with a Quarq CinQo S975 crankset, instead, if that’s relevant (it comes in either GXP or BB30).

Thanks!

Hi Craig5, about the BB dimension, there are some Argon 18 frames out there that are BB30 compatible. It all depends on the distributor’s choice. But most of our frames are standard English type thread. You can go from a BB30 to a English type thread using the FSA adapter but not the other way around. Because the BB30 got a larger diameter than the English type thread. If you want a BB30 frame, you should ask your local authorized Argon 18 dealer for availability.
