The BBT-22 should get even the oldest square taper’s out right…or ‘negative ghost rider’?
I have a pal bringing over a late 90’s Ultegra drive and being a dummy I gave away all my square taper/crank puller stuff once external cup sets gained in popularity. Grabbed a 22 and crank puller last week, but couldn’t remember if 20 tooth cup tools were what we used back in the ‘olden days’. I’m thinkin’ I’m good, but want to make sure I have the right one. Thanks!
If it fits you’re good, their are a lot of different BB tools for square taper.

Tacx makes the best BB tools, IMO. They thread into the spindle, which all but eliminates the dreaded “slip out of the spline” syndrome you often get with older Shimano BBs.

If my memory serves correctly, the tools you have will work just fine though
Those are really nice tools and on the occasion I’m working on a bb that wasn’t installed by me I sometimes wish I had one. Torque specs are completely unknown to some LBS’s apparently. I’m pretty sure the GXP I took off my bud’s Dual was about 2 ft. lbs from what an 800 lb. gorilla would do with a ratchet. It was comical.
…and my BBT-22 worked like a charm…thx for the input
