I can not many reviews on the following three bottom bracket conversions.
The one I saw on praxis was that it had to much friction compared to before the conversions but it didn’t help much in helping me decide. Any impute on what one you have used or anything you have heard about one.
I guess I am leaning more towards the rotor and the wheels for the fact it has no holes in it. Thank you in advance.
I tried the Wheels Manufacturing adaptor. It worked fine until I did some steep climbing ( over 10%). It started creaking and never stopped. I went back to bb30 and have had no issues since. Why do you want to go to Shimano?
I was looking to change because of a great deal on a 105 compact crankset in 165mm. I am going from a mid compact 172.5. That came with my bike to the compact which I prefer. I am also normaly 170 so I wanted to try a shorter crank. This and the bracket would come in cheaper than the bb30 cranksets so was looking at. Maybe it will be better to sell the 105 and just pay more for the bb30.
I used the WheelsMFG delrin adapters and they worked fine. A bit creaking on high torque efforts as others have stated.
Switched out to the WheelsMFG full converter bottom bracket. Press in one side then thread in the other. Opted for the angular contact bearings, and it spins like absolute butter!!
Yup, the one I linked is what I currently use. Right out of the box it spins like any fancy ceramic bearing bottom bracket. Easy to install, and easy to service (if I ever need it).
I run a Rotor crankset, but I assume the Shimano would work just as fantastically.
You leave the existing BB30 bearing in, fit in this adapter, and install the Shimano crank. I’ve been riding with it since the Fall (5ish months), and no problems whatsoever.
So here’s my dilemma. I presently am using the push in plastic bb30 to 24 for a shimano crank adapters on my 2011 shiv but recently discovered significant corrosion in the bb30 bearing housing/BB shell. See pic.
Would the BB30 Outboard Angular Contact BB for 24mm Cranks (Shimano) cited above be a good solution? Where the integrity of the Shiv’s BB factory inserted aluminum sleeve (for both bearing hold strength plus any tensile strength it adds to the frame’s BB shell) is compromised due to corrosion, would this threaded into adapter spanning the BB shell restore any of the potentially lost structural integrity to my BB while at the same time accommodate my shimano ultegra crank?
I can add my thumbs up for the wheels MFG delrin adapters. Run them on my Specialized Crux after wasting a significant amount of money in the crappy Praxis option.
