For anyone who could help:

I’m going to be in Oberau at the end of this month for 10 days, with time to ride, so I am looking for a bike shop that will rent me a decent road bike. I’ve tried the web and contacted a couple of shops in Oberau, and got a response from only one, which said they only rent mountain and hybrids (trekkers). The shop was Fahrradcenter Oberland GmbH

I can’t speak German, so my ability to contact others is limited, but if someone could direct me to a shop I have friends who’ll be in Oberau later this month who can handle the communication.

I’d even take a shop in Garmisch/Partenkirchen as well.

Searching the web, I’m also not able to find a lot in Oberau, but there are a few shops Garmisch that rent bikes. It’s not clear whether they rent road bikes, though. You’d probably have to contact each.

The last doesn’t show that they have road bikes (“rennrad”) in their inventory, but they do offer road bike tours, so they probably have them available. It would be best to just email them in English to see if they respond. Here’s the bike tour link off of the Bikeverlieh.de website:
