Basebar width?

If you were and aero freak (I’m not) wouldn’t you want your aero basebars to be 40cm (for example) instead of 42cm since that would be 2cm less bar in the wind? Considering how little time is spent on them it seems that the 2cm (3/4") width difference would be negligible handling/comfort-wise.

Out of curiosity, how wide are bars like the HED, Oval and Blackwell integrated bars?

I think the width should be determined by how you like to feel on them.

Knowing that I would be on the base bars minimally…i have always gone with the most narrow…comfort to me was not an issue.

I have 42 cm bars on my road bike. I figured I could get away with 40s on my TT bike but it felt so weird that I had to switch the to 42 cm base bars.
