But if you are a fan of watching people who aren’t very good at professional sports playing professional sports though I have some rule changes you might enjoy.
In the NFL, for one series every quarter the left tackle and the quarterback will switch positions. Teams may opt to punt on first down and yeah it’s a complete waste of time but the game will be more pure.
For 5 minutes every quarter in basketball your centre must bring the ball up the floor as if he were the point guard. Sure turnovers will be the new big thing but think of the purity.
Got any good rule changes we can implement to make sports worse, but you know, more pure?

Isn’t this the whole idea of the DH, to allow pitchers to focus exclusively on what they’re paid to do: pitch? DH’s are paid to hit. In both cases they’re paid to do exactly what the role entails.
I’ve always been torn on the DH because pitchers and DHs are no longer ‘baseball players’, they’re specialists. But loads of sports have specialists who only perform one function, I think this just allows the best in the world to do what they do best.

I think that was BLeP’s point (he was trying to be sarcastic). I don’t care either way. That “sport” is unbearably boring in any case.
Good move. Having pitchers stand in the batters box and flail away does not help the game.
Let the caddy play 1 hole each 9
Playing without a DH brings more strategy into the game with the choice of leaving a pitcher in or pulling him. I’m a Jays fan so follow the AL closer but prefer the no DH rule,
The golf idea’s interesting, lots of caddies are solid golfers.
I grew up a Mariners fan, so obviously an Edgar Martinez fan as well. I like the DH, but would like to see it used more like a substitution rule, where the DH only comes in for the pitcher at some point of the game, the pitcher is then out and the DH has to take the field, forcing a starter out of the game. That starter could be rotated back in as a DH later. Any time you want to pull the pitcher form hitting, whomever goes to bat has to take the field. It would certainly make managers think three times before pulling the pitcher.
NHL: if a game goes to penalty shots, and remains tied after the first round, goalies must take a penalty shot, and the last shooter they faced will be the goalie (I know, I know it takes forever to get in to goalie gear).

The correct answer is the DH is an abomination
Agreed. So you I assume also hate the place kicker in football and want him to play another position. As well. Perhaps he should be forced to be a WR while he’s not kicking.
Sure you’ll give up a ton of offence but once in a blue moon he’ll make a catch.

I have always hated the DH and the main reason I have always been for the NL. Now I don’t know what to do.
I understand things need to change through time but change should be to improve the game and each person will have their own opinion on what’s an improvement but only my opinion matters. I hate the 3-point line in basketball because it ruins technique at the lower levels and makes for a lazy game. It removes a lot of the defensive and offensive strategies on getting open to score. The NBA is no longer a sport, it’s entertainment. They travel, double-dribble, foul (depending on who you are), and they basically have 2 shots, the 3-pointer and dunk.
I can’t really think of any good rule changes to make sports worse but more pure, the ones they keep coming up with seem to be doing a good job already.

<you shut your dirty whore mouth .gif> It’s clear you don’t understand baseball, just like that idiot in the OP.
To the OP:
-the 5th inning will force each batter to bat from the opposite side of the plate. For switch hitters, they must bat from the same side and the pitcher’s throwing arm.
-NBA- during the third quarter, the ball is replaced with a football. All other rules still apply.
-NFL- they will revert to baseball substitution rules. Once you sub out, you’re gone for the rest of the game
-MLS- same rules except now you get to use your hands
-NHL- no changes. That sport is already ridiculous enough

How 'bout in tennis: alternate games they must hold the racquet in the non-dominate hand, to reduce aces
NASCAR - they can only turn left… oh, wait

That’s called a pinch hitter
Kind of, pinch hitters may remain in the game, there is no requirement they ultimately take the field. My proposal is they must remain in the game.
