O.k. so i’ve been noticing a lot of trends on this forum over these past months. So I thought I would start a post about various bandwagons I have noticed forming:
The “Campy rules” bandwagon (Shimano doesn’t really have a bandwagon, we’re just apathetic)
The “Cervelo is the greatest bike on earth” bandwagon (o.k. i’m a part of this one… We just keep growing though!)
The “kiss Slowman’s butt whenever he posts” bandwagon
The “I hate powercranks” bandwagon (I feel sorry for the owner… He gets flamed everytime he posts)
Yeah, but too often it’s the exact same idea. I know that people don’t read every thread, and that NOBODY ever searches the forum history(forums are like amnesiacs: if it isn’t on page one, it never happened) but it’s kind of a pain when half the threads on the top 50 are on the same topic, and you read responses like:“If you go to my other post on another thread, where I brilliantly refute everything that everyone else here has ever said, you’ll see that you’re a dolt, and I’m godlike!”
I can’t start a pet peeve thread for two reasons: 1. It’s been done. Numerous times. 2. They always, always, end in a flame war between the its-the-web-so-screw-grammar-an-speling crowd, and the Proper Usage Nazi’s. I can’t be responsible for that. Also, I have a high shun factor, so it wouldn’t get the attention it deserves.
It seems like everyday a new pet peeve thread gets started… I usually stop paying attention to them when they turn into a flame war…
Oh! I just remembered a bandwagon! The “Learn how to spell Tibbsy” OR “Tibbsy, is that even proper English?” bandwagon. Although, I think that one has fallen a part since he found the spellchecker and started using a thesaurus
That flew for two reasons. First, people wanted to puch a thread to 100K hits. Second, I think a lot of folks realized that linked images on a legit website bypassed their company’s porn filters.
