Balega socks

I have a Groupon for $50 for $25 at the local running shop. I need some new socks and was going to get either Wright socks or Belega’s.

Many on here love them. Anything particularly special about them?

i prefer feetures socks to balegas but these are my all time favorite:

I’ve got about 30 Balega pairs. I use the running version since the “X” version slips down my heel. I like the Balegas a lot. Feetures are also very nice.

I’ve only used their warm weather racing socks and while I can’t say too much, I can say they are very comfortable and insanely light. My only reservation would be longevity, I only use them for races as they don’t seem too durable. Not sure about the rest of their lineup.

particularly special?

I guess it’s the padding in the heel and toe. I dunno, I just find them more comfortable than any other sock I’ve tried. Now they are all I own.

Is it a lot of cushioning like Thor-Lo’s? I hate thorlo’s, so if they thick like that, I will stick with wrights.

And the features socks I have (the bamboo an wool, black ones) have worn out very quickly. I don’t care much for them.

I prefer thin socks with a little bit of padding. I hate socks that have extra pads so part of the sock is thin and part is thick (ala thorlos).

That said, Balega’s are my all time favorite RUNNING sock. I don’t like to bike in them (I like really thin biking socks). Balega’s are thin, but not too thin and the same thickness throughout the sock. They are not super tight but don’t fall down in my shoe and last a long time. I like the Balega Hidden Comfort the best.

x2. They are the best sock I have ever used.

Yep, most comfortable and least durable sock I have owned. The comfort outweights the durability for me. I love em. I figure they are good for about 10-20 long runs per pair. Which is like 3 years for me lately…

I am a huge Balega fan. Several IMs and 100 Mile Trail races have me drinking the kool-aid. They last several years for me and feel so much better than other brands. Good luck!

I vote for Wright socks. My Balega socks wore out way too quickly.

Kudo’s to Balega Socks for working with the Ethembeni School for Disabled Students in South Africa. Some of their socks have been sold with beadwork made by the school’s students. Anytime I’ve got a choice between good products, I’ll go with one that I know is giving back.

I’ve found Balega to be cheaper, but mostly they are simple and comfortable. I vote Balega.

Balegas all the way. They are thin and stretchy. I run in them and also bike. They may not be the sturdiest sock out there but I’d rather have to buy two pairs of Balegas than wear another pair of some the others that I have tried over the years.
