Hello,
Using Victor Conte’s name and clean in the same sentence is a no no ;-). This is an amazing mess. I am highly disappointed in Marion jones being named. This is the first credible? evidence I have heard. A lot of smoke and suspicion, but nothing credible. Even CJ Hunter had an ax to grind, but i don’t see how Victor gains anything by naming her.
The sad thing is that MJ will likely lose medals, respect, the rest of her career, and big $$ because of this, (she should, but its still sad). The baseball players will not lose a penny, except maybe in endorsements.

i don’t know if you can use the name victor conte in the same sentence as the word “clean”. while i think the truth will come out about many of these doped athletes, and it is starting to, conte is not very credible in my opinion.
interesting to note that the admissions of giambi and bonds occurred pursuant to grand jury testimony for which they were granted immunity and whose record was supposed to be sealed. until the testimony is entered into evidence at the balco trial and we see it, i would not believe what anyone says as the pr game will be at high tide.
finally how does one explain the marion jones passed lie detector test. i know they can be beat but that would be a little odd to me.

COMPLETE FOCUS!
seriously though, wouldn’t this be a great way for epo girl to address some of these issues in our sport? she’s got the opportunity to become something greater than an IM winner. step up.
All I know is that I loved Tower of Power and I could never fault anyone who laid down such a funky rhythym. I also have to give a guy with not a whole lot of science background, a lot of credit for moving into this area and developing all he developed. That it got used “illegally” is another matter, and was the athletes’ choice (at least the ones that don’t claim they “had no idea” they were using a banned substance). Had his “products” been developed by a major drug company, he might be getting a Nobel Prize for science.
What, exactly, are they saying that Mr. Conte did wrong?
NO $%@##.
I’m a huge Bump City fan but never put the 2 together…although Rocco lays down a better groove!
Victor is innocent!!!
NO $%@##.
It’s absolutely the same guy. I have seen this mentioned many times in the papers.
“As testing spreads, federal investigators are focusing on the 53-year-old Conte, former bassist for Tower of Power turned nutritional guru, the onetime accounting student turned successful entrepreneur, a man described by friends as driven and brilliant.”
Unfortunately, now he’s “Back, back, back, back, back on the streets again”
“finally how does one explain the marion jones passed lie detector test.”
They are notoriously inaccurate. That’s why they aren’t used in court. Also who administered it. Somebody hired by her lawyer no doubt. Not likely an impartial test.
I hate MJ with a passion. Believing in Santa Claus is more likely to be true than believing she’s innocent IMO.
How is it that eveyone else that has been alledged, admitted, or whatever of doping in the recent past has been crucified on this forum, but now its sad that MJ is going to lose her medals. If she did it she doesn’t deserve any of them. I’m not saying she did do it but she’s the only one who seems to be getting the benefit of the doubt here.
"What, exactly, are they saying that Mr. Conte did wrong? "
You mean besides providing PED’s to dozens of Professional Athletes? Remember Monk, both drug dealers and drug users are breaking the law.
Remember Monk, both drug dealers and drug users are breaking the law.
I don’t mean to be argumentative, but are the products he created and manufactured illegal, i.e. is there a State or Federal law against them (or violative of some FDA regulation) or is it just that they can be used in a manner that violates rules of some governing bodies in sports?
Hello,
If you are responding to the general consensus of the forum, then MJ has been crucified like everyone else. If to me specifically I have been consistant that
A) When someone has been found to have used PED they should be dealt with quickly and harshly.
B) They should be given every opportunity to clear their name if they feel an error has been made (while remaining suspended as they make their attempts).
C) Rumors and suspicions are not proof, and until proof is offered then the benefit of doubt must be given.
I think its sad if she loses the medals because the sport is further tainted, her competitors will get hollow medals, her teamates will lose medals that thought they fairly earned. I don’t think its sad for MJ.

I’m not a law expert, but producing, distributing and prescribing drugs without a liscence and without FDA approval has got to be illegal.

…and I think they came up with a 42 count indictment, but when the Feds want your testimony, they find a way to get it. Look at what they did to poor Al Capone, with that phoney tax beef, and that nice Mr. Gotti.
"Why am I telling you this now? Because I believe if you do things for the right reasons, the outcome will be positive. "
I understand he is also kind to kittens & small children, and volunteers at the soup kitchen, being so positive and all.
the outcome will be positive.
…and it was!
Check out ESPN’s Sports Center tonight at 6 PM. My main man Tom Farrey will be broadcasting a piece on this ever-changing story.
I was responding in general not to you specifically, but this is one of the first posts I’ve scene regarding MJ so I would say she’s gotten off lightly IMHO.
I totally agree with you on A through C, and mosly on your last point. I think the teammates of those who have cheated are hurt the worst. Floyd Landis is going to get screwed because of Tyler’s decisions. The other members of the US Track team will be equally screwed. The people that work hard to train the athletes who are not in the loop on this stuff waste their time and efforts as well.
I have passed Lie Detecter tests and lied on them. It is not hard.
