Bad ankle sprain two weeks out

Two weeks from a HIM and pretty badly sprained my ankle today. I’m doing the RICE thing. Any other suggestions?
I’m going to try and get my 3 hour bike in on Sunday morning. If it feels like crap I’ll go get an x-ray.

You may be fine (typical grade I ATF ligament strain) to a no go (high syndesmosis injury). No way to answer more than that over the internet. Best of luck to 'ya!

I understand the difficulty answering over the internet. I think its a low sprain. The swelling is on the outside above and in front of the ankle bone on the outside of my foot. There is swelling but no bruising yet. I can walk fairly well.

Do you think a bike ride would aggravate it?

Yes, a bike ride will aggravate it. First 72 hours post-injury is the inflammatory phase. Definitely rest/ice/compression here. After that, we stupid type-A types can “think” about easy stuff (swim/bike easy with a brace/wrap, etc.). Still not ideal, but if an ‘A’ race is looming large, perfectly understandable.
